This is the worst software ever!!! I tried to send a promo and it mailed to people 4 times. I sent out a couple times and cancelled as soon as it started. I am not a complet ludite- I promise. BUt there is something so counter intuitive about this product that you have no idea how many times it decides to send things out.
Good application but few steps behind DIRECT MAIL. To say that, MaxBulk Mailer got a lot of potential but overconfident developer would not give it to us ... due to his unfriendly attitude ...
May be he feel, that all those $$$ we pay him over the years to stay in business are for nothing ... right ...
I own a number of these softwares for sending mail to our clients. I have to take a trouble and report, that this software is hands down the best out there !!! It make our work a pleasure again. Thank you guys !!!
This is brilliant, just what I needed. I had to give it a 4 overall rating but only for one reason. I wish it had the facility to receive incoming messages and reports. ie if an email address bounces back with a failure report it could de-activate or flag up that address. At present you have to go through the emails you receive back and manually manage the failed ones etc. Other than that though this was a real life saver for me. I was looking for a cheap app to send out a couple of newsletters and this came up with everything I needed.
I am looking for a good (I'd even settle for decent) bulk mailing application for OSX that has the following features:
* Rich Text emails
* Can easily pull lists from Mac address book
* Can easily insert variable data into body of email.
* Insertion based on rules would be great.
I've been trying to MaxBulk Mailer to work and the features look pretty spot on to my needs. The trouble is that I can't get it configured to work with my mail server. I contacted the developer and got a very fast response that said
Unfortunately, Mailings does not yet support secure (SSL) mail server's such as Gmail. If you have access to another mail server please try that. I am sorry for the incompatibility and I am working on an update that supports SSL.
"I do have another mass emailer called "Quaik" which does support SSL. It supports some of the features of Mailings. You can read more about it, and download it, here: http://www.limit-point.com/Utilities/Quaik.html (Be sure to read the release notes for important feature information that may not be in the documentation :)"
Quaik looks too light on the feature set for me.
Any suggestions on which email systems to use? I've tried with Yahoo and me.com accounts and can't get either one to work. If anyone has had success with those mail providers I would REALLY appreciate a tip on how to set MaxBulk to work properly. Alternatively, which other bulk mail applications do you suggest?
The reply you got was from Mailings and Quaik, which are from a different developer.
Were you also told that MaxBulk Mailer won't work with GMail?
From what I recall, I used version 6 using GMail. I had no interest in upgrading to version 7 and now to version 8, though, but I'm pretty sure it works with Gmail.
I don't use me.com, but for Yahoo try smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465 or plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465
I could not get it to work on version 6, but maybe it works on newer versions of the software.
New version 5.5 will NOT deliver report. We went back to version 5.4 and no problem there. We have tested a number times and it seams too, that ver. 5.5 has some problem here.

- Select the recipients you want to move, and copy them
- Go to the destination list, and choose "Paste Special" from the Edit menu
It's a little bit more complicated, but at least it works! Now, if they would only make it as fast and snappy as MailDrop...
