14.2.0 file date on the linked download is October 2011. Same as the one I had installed.

So far (and I really mean so far) the release has been fairly solid. I've given it a full week of production based testing in the design studio and I've yet to experience anything like a FMcore crash. This is maybe something to do with them removing the pref pane and making it part of the app but something seems to have changed for the better. Fingers crossed and somewhat hopeful.

Still this is a more professional way.
Guess it depends what you do.

And of course no CS 5.5 support.
This update seems to address both issues.
One thing I'd like to mention is from my experience in pre-press, I leave auto activation turned off, and I add fonts leaving them in place. This prevents font conflicts with customer files. I also remove any unnecessary files from the system library.
At home for design work, I leave auto activation on, and leave add fonts in place on. I don't use the font vault since my fonts are on a second hard drive.
Even with some minor issues, this is still the best font manager for the Mac. It has no issues with creating font sets with the files located on a file server for instance. You can't do that with FontExplorer X.

Installer fails every time. I have never installed this tool before. I used Pacifist to extract the application.
When I try to use demo it tells me that the FMCore is incompatible. WTF? Suitcase Fusion installed it and why is it installing an incompatible version!!
Mac OS X 10.6.4 with all the latest Apple updates.

Download it from Extensis directly. That fixed all both problems for me.
Good luck.

I installed SFC3. I started the app with demo, but don't work.
I get this message:
Unable to start the Suitcase Fusion Core.
Suitcase Fusion has detected an incompatible version of FMCore.
Suitcase Fusion can not continue.
How can I uninstall, or delete older version of SFC?
Since I have installed Fusion I can no longer view PDFs with Apple's Preview when I export a PDF from InDesign CS2.
Response from Extensis:
This is something we have noticed with Fusion, and we are investigating it now. There is a workaround: In the preferences for the Suitcase plug-in, disable the FontSense option and your PDFs should work fine in Preview (you can always turn it back on after the PDF is exported).
As soon as there is a permanent fix or a more effective workaround, you will see that information posted on our website.
