The usual WARNING: Check very carefully that YOUR Wacom tablet is supported by THIS driver. There are, inexplicably, TWO running lines of drivers for Wacom tablets. One is the 5.x series for the Bamboo and Graphire. One is the 6.x series, as found here, for the Cintiq and Intuos series.
DO NOT get them mixed up. If you install the wrong driver series, your Wacom is not going to work. If you are uncertain what to install, check on the Wacom site: http://www.wacom.com
Please don't post 1 star rant reviews when in fact you installed the wrong driver series. TY!
Beware! This update has a new "feature" that I haven't seen on previous updates that I can remember: it totally wipes your settings. If you want to install, be sure to record all of your settings prior to installation, because you're going to have to recreate all of your application sets and everything else after the install.
I tried to restore from a backup, and apparently the new version doesn't read old prefs. It's not like Wacom to do something like this. I'm going to spend a while trying to remember how I set the old version up. Sad.
Thank you for keeping this driver available. I still use an older tablet - the Graphire 2 - and this is the only place so far I've been able to find the driver.
It worked but prevented Painter Essentials 3 from opening on Snow Leopard, rendering the tablet mostly useless. I tried installing the driver several different times but no luck.
These boards are awesome! I've used my Bamboo Fun (Large) Board on my computer and it works great. Pen is actually excellent for Photoshop or making flash animations on Flash CS5. The tablet driver helps makes it work. Thumbs Up For You Wacom!
So many issues that can be traced back to these drivers. Maya 2011/2012 not clicking with sampling eyedropper? Wacom driver. iTunes 10.4 not dragging tracklists? Wacom driver. The list goes on I'm sure but these are starting to really get in my way of working.
I installed 6.1.6-2 but had to revert back to 6.1.5-2. The problem was that the preferences would not "stick" after a restart. I also tried deleting everything via the Wacom Tablet Utility, re-installing 6.1.6-2 then re-entering everything fresh (I had a lot of settings). Next morning, everything gone again. Here is what solved my Intuos2 not being recognised in 10.5.3
First run the Wacom uninstaller an remove all software and preferences.
Reboot and repair permissions.
Install only the ONE driver (I used 6.08)
Well, despite the fact that I'm pretty sure it's a Graphire 2 (that's what I remember, and we've had it for years), the CTE prefix apparently means a Graphire 3 or 4, and the tablet itself thinks it is a Graphire 3, because installing the Graphire 3 driver fixed our problems. The cursor now responds exactly to the pen movement.
So, if you have the same problems as we did, install the driver for Graphire 3. If it's not here on MacUpdate, go to the WACOM site > Support > Driver downloads, choose Graphire 3 and your system, then grab the latest driver. We installed PenTablet_503-3.
We just upgraded to a Mac mini, and my daughter's Graphire tablet (original software) wasn't responding properly. So we downloaded this driver and installed it. The Preference Pane is there, but it says there are no "supported tablets" on the system.
We think ours is a Graphire 2: on the back it says "CTE-430 (Pearl)", which doesn't seem to match the codes mentioned in the update blurb. We tried restarting, and the tablet still doesn't register. What should we do?
I found this over at Wacom that might help a few people:
NOTE: If you have upgraded your Macintosh operating system with the tablet driver installed, your tablet may not respond until you uninstall the driver, restart the system and reinstall it into the upgraded operating system.
