It was clear early in the beta process that the developers didn't have the foggiest of what they were doing.

Once OS X arrived, there were not many options. By the time NUTD&C came out I was no longer a happy customer, and never upgraded. Chronos Consultant eventually became SOHO but it was not a good product. I finally upgraded to version 7 which was not that bad, but then 8 came out with another upgrade fee and I uninstalled my version.
Daylite was very promising, but support has declined and with the switch to 10.5 it actually became unusable in my system. By 10.5.4 -and after a complete re-installation of Leopard- I got it working again. By then I was already using Contactizer Pro. It's not perfect, but so far it's my favorite option.
Chandler was also promising, but I found it practically unusable.
I was hoping that Now X would become a stable and comprehensive calendar and CRM application for Mac OS X. I checked today their website and found John Wallace's Farewell letter. I may end up using Entourage and cleaning up my contact information in Panorama, which has a backup of all my contacts.
Obviously there's a market for this type of applications. Why can't developers get it right (and on time)?

Too bad about their demise--and almost predictable. I was a big-time Now user prior to and just after OSX. Switched to Personal Organizer, then Entourage. For an eternity--four years is an eternity in the computer world--I and lots of Now fans eagerly awaited the release of "Nighthawk." In the meantime, I switched to Daylite and was a loyal follower for several years until they changed the interface and decided not to encourage helpful feedback. I tried Contactizer, but it doesn't synch nice. Soho Organizer (the successor to Personal Organizer) is pretty good, but there are enough buggy issues that I can't rely on it. Eventually "Nighthawk" was released as NowX. It was pretty bad.
I'm not surprised by this turn of Now's fortunes. Saddened, but not surprised. They should reimburse all those who paid upfront for Nighthawk, but they probably won't.
I'm sticking with the native Apple apps. Not ideal, but pretty good for me.
Found NOWX a very nice project and ambitious, starting from best features of Now software and adding new technologies and a superior syncing. I tried first versions since the start and switched over 8 month ago.
But the project was too big, too costly for NS....
1- I could wait if I somebody could bring a way to reload my NowX base into the old NUDC.
2- May I suggest that our APPLE mother company to handle this follow up. As it seems that the synch brings many limitations that Nowx could not solve and that Apple can handle. Money is not missing for Apple! Could they bring a real added value into this difficult subject: a modern, simple and versatile CRM. (It could be favorably included in the Iworks package)... and make even more money.
To the Apple marketing staff: I am an Apple user since 20 years, love the nice Iphones, Imacs, Macbooks you design and that my company owns, I also love easy syncing between Iphone and Ical it brings.
I am now missing the basement of my company : a great CRM.
3- Or shall I wait that GOOGLE brings a free and efficient answer, with all my data on their servers? I am still willing to keep Apple, but I am now stuck without any efficient answer.
4- Anybody to take over? CRM is now a basic software for professional users, with a larger offer in the window field.
I really hope somebody solves this big lack in the mac field, NOW! XXXL?

I guess it would be a pipe dream to think that Now would refund at least our upgrade costs seeing as they basically went out of business.
Live & learn.

"Still gathering menu contents - please try again" :-/
I thought this was supposed to be fixed in the update?
I really like NUDC, but not getting reminders and not having esay access to important dates is a huge loss of functionality IMHO.
