The 32 bit version of EPSON Scan runs fine on Mountain Lion with a Epson Expression 10000XL scanner, shared on the workgroup over ethernet, but that is not good enough for Mavericks, which needs a 64 bit version. :(
Apparently they’re working on it: “An OS X 10.9 compatible Scanner Driver and EPSON Scan Utility for this model is not yet available but is coming soon. Please check back for availability.” (10/16/13) http://tinyurl.com/pjmjttl
Per 11/26/13, an update exists of “Scanner Driver and EPSON Scan Utility” v18.104.22.168, compatible with OS X 10.9 Mavericks. Finally the Mac at work can be fully functional with 10.9. http://tinyurl.com/pjmjttl
The Espon scan seems to only be able to work with "Expression 10000 XL" and not be general at all. Why not call it "Epson Expression 10000 XL Scan" then?
Is Epson doing a 64 bit version for Mavericks?
Absolute junk. £30 cartridges last 5 minutes, scanner fails to connect every time I open Epson Scan on my iMac. Can't even get it to install on the MacBook Pro. Epson's website is ridiculously overly complicated to find anything, support is terrible, will NEVER buy from Epson again.Epson SX445W for what it's worth.
Pretty poor customer support. Tried multiple times to get this to work since upgrading to Mountain Lion. Doesn't seem to want to work at all. Cannot recommend, for despite repeated attempts to reach Epson support, they do not respond. Go with another brand.
I second that. Epson's web-based support is a disaster. Probably first written by a Japanese engineer, then translated, then rewritten by an American tech writer. It is so convoluted and nonfunctional, I can vouch I'll never buy another Epson product.
Don't bother with the driver that doesn't work. Apple delivers third-party software for scanners and printers via Software Update. Simply connect the printer or scanner to the Mac. If software is needed and available, OS X will automatically download and install it. Now, just press start on the scanner. The Apple program picture collector will start automaticly and you will see the pre scan. Make adjustments and press scan. Good Luck
I have installed the new driver but where is the smart panel. I cannot use my document feeder? Does anyone know how to access this?
I have also installed th Epson Twain 5,75 program and I am also at a lost to find the Smart Panel. Have you had any luck finding it?
If you have please let me know how to get the Smart Panel onto my computer.
I am running OS X 10.2.8
this is a Twain plug in.
the Panael you remember from OS9 comes up via the import menu in your application of choice (from Photoshop to Graphic converter...)
Cannot get PS 7.0 to access TWAIN. Perfection 610 scanner. iMac, OS10.2.6.
Have downloaded new drivers.
5.75a does NOT support Epson 1650 scanner under OS 10.2.6.
If anyone has an alternate (driver / s/w) that works -- all ears here!
Have you found a solution to running your 1650 scanner? I reloaded the OS and lost TWAIN somehow. It was running so well in OS X with PS 7 and I can't get it back now. Not directly from the FIle menu anyway.
After hours of not getting this thing to work I finally figured it out. I kept getting a "not enough priviledges" message so I figured...why not run it as root? So I did...and now it works like a charm.
Near perfect, I've been running this for some time now for use with Epson Perfection 1250. Works fine with Adobe & Graphic Converter. I'm currently on Mac OSX 10.2.6
We also have a 1250, and are running 10.2.8. We can't get Twain or Scan to File to work. Any suggestions?
