Solscape is a "Solar Data Browser" application that grabs real time, up to the minute images of the Sun in multiple light wavelengths. Solscape also monitors current Solar flare activity, Earth view satellite images, Solar geomagnetic activity, and Aurora activity. Solscape gets all of its information via the Internet and compiles it in a single, easy to use application. You can save and archive the data that Solscape collects for later use, and you can tell Solscape to automatically grab the data when you want.
What's New
Version 2.6: All SOHO images now update correctly (the image format changed from GIF to JPG).
Requirements
PPC / Intel, Mac OS X 10.4 or later, internet connection.
The developers site has changed to http://www.jschilling.net/
However no it shows no sign of activity since 2010.
MU please update the link.
If he's too busy, I hope he open sources this to allow further development. It's a great program and I've shared it with several other Mac using amateur astronomers.
Been using this gem for years and love it. However, in Dec. 2009, NOAA changed the header for alerts ( http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/ftpdir/latest/ ), and the app has not been updated to adapt to the changes. It's a minor inconvenience to check them manually, but after 20 months without a fix, I have to wonder if the app is still being supported.
Appears to work in 10.2.8. Loads up just fine, all images seem to download with no problem. Typically excellent work from Stimpsoft.

Cocoa version is faster wow!
More scientific apps! lol
I feel more in touch with the world... or, more in this case, the sun. Connection to other Satellites or SpaceStation(S) or shuttle missions might be itneresting.
