Any updates since version 3.1? I heard rumor of 3.2 but never received a download link for it. Thanks for making Yosemite tolerable for me!

Lost reverted icons after upgrading to 10.10.4. Still does some things, like blue iTunes in dock and no cloudy login screen but no more reverted icons. Tried undo changes and re-installing but no help.

All, For those experiencing problems with being unable to locate a font file, or finding the font changes from earlier versions of the app were not removed, update to version 1.3.1. If you've already purchased the app, you should have just gotten an email about it.

I installed this and it did absolutely nothing.

I tried several times (taking it out and putting it back in; "zapping" the Finder; etc.) to no avail. I did this on my newly-upgraded MacBook Pro and on a VM. In each case, absolutely nothing happened.

What's the deal?

This is a crock of crap. I hate losing money on these apps that leave you gasping when everything disappears. Obliterated, wiped, sundered evaporated - now everything is back to normal. I want my money back.

Do you think you could implement in the app the possibility to revert to the much nicer 3D Dock of previous systems?

good to have option but need to let us try first. Although I could able to change by myself for free by using lucidagrande fonts and LiteIcon, this is a good app that can do all this for everybody. I wonder do we get the font style like before, I mean darker and fatter like Mavericks? Because Yosemite also made the fonts thinner and grayer, harder to read, does it change these properties or just the font style?

I'm really happy with the way this script reverts the icons back to the more professional look and style that Mavericks had. This is more like I expect an Apple operating system to appear.

Another feature request: the ability to change the icons but not the font. Messing with fonts is too problematic.

Another feature that would enhance this app would be the ability to change the icons and the font selectively, that is, to revert some items and leave others. Just a thought.

Should you need copies of the system icons from Mavericks or earlier, if you still have the system installed on another Mac or external drive, you can find them in the System/Library/CoreServices/CoreType.bundle/Contents/Resources folder (or you could suss them out with Time Machine if you're wise enough to be using it). If you manually apply one of these icons to a Yosemite file or folder by copying and pasting from the Get Info window of one to the other, you can manually revert the icon by selecting it in the Get Info window and clicking Command-Delete - as the copy is pasted on top of the original rather than replacing it. You can probably do the same with YosemiteRevert if it pastes the old icons over the new ones rather than actually replacing the system resources. You will have to examine the Apple Script to see exactly how it works. Copy/Paste is the safest way to do the switch because it does not affect any system resources. Alternatively, if YosemiteRevert does swap out system resources, to be on the safe side you could make a copy of the .../CoreType.bundle/Contents/Resources folder before using YosemiteRevert and put it in a safe place, say the same Contents folder after renaming the Resources folder copy to something like Resources_Original. That is certainly the safest strategy if you don't know how YosemiteRevert operates. I had already replaced some of the Yosemite icons with the Mavericks versions before I saw YosemiteRevert here on MacUpdate. Which is how I came to know where the icons are stored. If you're not comfortable reading Apple Script, you could make a copy of the Resources folder, invoke YosemiteRevert and then check to see if the icons in the original Resources folder have been changed. If not, then you know YosemiteRevert uses Copy and Paste. The developer could save everyone a lot of trouble and anxiety by doing a better job of explaining his app.

Presumably, this just switches out various system files for versions of those files from Mavericks, but with no obvious way to undo those changes if it goes wrong. Is it clever enough to handle applications moved from their default locations? Does it handle non US localised applications? Does it make a backup of all changed files before starting? Does it provide a way to revert the changes it makes? Does it interfere with the code signing of applications that occurs when making unauthorised modifications to system files? Does the developer have a license to distribute Apple's copyrighted system files? All these questions and more are left unanswered and I'm not willing to try this out without some guarantees of stability and that it won't damage my system.
