DooMLegacy is a freeware port of ID Software's classic First Person Shooter series: Doom. This is a modification of the original Doom source code which was released to the public by ID Software in 1997.

What's New

Version 1.43 beta: This version is built upon Doom Legacy 1.42 source using SDL 1.2 and OpenGL support. The game has been built on Mac OS X 10.3 and not testend on older versions (and I won't). Networking currently not working.

Requirements
PPC, Mac OS X 10.3 or later, Doom shareware WAD game file.

yep, dL is a good app and still worth using as a backup and for those maps that refuse to work under better engines.. (so keep DL!)
But lets face it, is this still being developed? Cos it needs to be - doomsday is far far better.

Agree with DJ, DooMLegacy is good but Doomsday is better. Dynamic lighting in place and 3d models on their way, new version 1.9 here https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=74815 adds a configurable launcher and Doom in a window - recommended! Review scores are for Legacy.

I haven't been able to play a decent game of the "old" Doom since several PCs and a Mac ago. I was very pleased to come across this. Since it was released in '02 I don't know if the developer is still listening, but thanks for offering it! I'm enjoying it immensely. BTW, it is extremely stable under Tiger.
