Temperature Gauge Pro is a must-have utility for every Mac user with three top features:
  • Check up on your Mac by viewing the current and maximum recorded temperatures for every sensor. Choose between Celsius or Fahrenheit.
  • Tune the fan speeds so that your Mac can run cooler with the manual fan control. Or have the fans spin at maximum speed with Auto Boost when a specific temperature is hit.
  • Discover faulty fans and temperature sensors with the built-in diagnostics.
Temperature Gauge Pro will also show a notification through the Notification Center or Growl when a temperature is hit or more...

This version has a terrible bug that causes the fans to hit max speed even when the temps are below the levels set for them to kick in. Every time I rebooted, my fans would start racing until I quit the app. I kept checking the temps in the TGP window and they were all fine.

The dev. says this and other issues should be fixed in the 2.0 release, so save your money until then.

However, I must rate this on my experience with this faulty app. A second ago I opened it and a Notification Center alert popped up saying CPU Diode 0 was 179 degrees, and the fans started racing. But I opened the temp. window and the diode was only 156 degrees. After a few seconds the fans stopped racing. It seems that maybe TGP misreads the temps when first opened and catches up after a few seconds.

The window shows temps for 14 sensors inside my MacBook Pro (I had no idea there were so many!), and can even monitor external drive temps.

The reviewer is correct that there is an issue where it is possible that the fans will come on at max rpm, although this will only happen for a small percentage of users.

He's also correct that this will be resolved in TG Pro 2.0 which is being actively worked on right now.

TG Pro 2.0 will also have some great new features and tons of improvements and bug fixes, so please stay tuned!

Great utility. Worth the money for sure. It helps my MBP to cool down and I also can keep an eye on all the sensors while working. The developer seems to be pretty reactive at least on twitter ;)

Great little utility, fantastic value for the price.
Enabled a more precise and much needed control over my MacBookPro temperature when using intensive applications.
Developer is very responsive both in fixing bugs and listening to user input.
