The GM version of Mavericks is truly impressive. I have multiple iMacs with SL, Lion, and ML and I think the performance edge goes to Mavericks. I felt prior to Mavericks that SL was the best operating system but with Mavericks that has changed more...

Avoid unless you know that all of your software and hardware has been changed to be compatible. Apple never has and never will care about supporting older hardware and software and this is especially true with Mavericks. Though Apple brags about more...

I downloaded and installed 10.9.4 combo but when I checked the disk info after rebooting it showed up as 10.9.3. Also the Safari version still shows as 7.0.4 (not 7.0.5). The d/loaded dmg file size is 958.2 mb, as it should be. To make sure I d/loaded the combo again directly from the apple downloads page. I’ve repaired permissions but ‘about this mac’ is still stuck on 10.9.3. Anyone else have the same bug?

Tried it again, this time from the simple update version (rather than combo) and 10.9.4 now shows up in disk info. The smaller 283 mb file also took longer to install than the combo version. Not sure why the combo didn’t work. Maybe b/cause my HD capacity is getting maxed out?

I am wanting to leave a question here:
I upgraded to 10.9.4 last night and the system works without issues for the most part, I did notice a small graphical glitch though when using the zoom feature on any site like youtube which has video. there seems to be a tiny hair line that follows the cursor at a distance, it's not not noticeable unless on white, or you're actually looking at it.

I have a late 2013 Macbook Pro 13" Retina with iris graphics Haswell CPU I just wondered if anyone else has noticed it, like i said, it only happens on sites like youtube, and youtube has been the main one ive seen so far. I did a PRAM reset in case there were bad settings, but this looks to be a software, and not hardware thing, if someone could try to reproduce the problem, or has reproduced it please let me know. Thanks

Since updating I'm noticing a rather large graphical glitch. When scrolling or moving windows, particularly ones with images, it's very choppy. I also notice it's jittery when zooming. FYI, I'm on a late 2013 iMac 27".

I've been using a Mac since 1983, and generally been pretty pleased with each new OS since the introduction of Mac OS X, and of late Mavericks.
We use three iMacs at home, a iPad, and Apple TV.
I have found however that the iOS system on the iPad seems somewhat smoother in operation than OS X on my iMacs.
I also tend to agree that 10.9.4 is more of a fix for glitches introduced in 10.9.3.
I am still however more than happy with Apple hardware and their operating system which is streets ahead of anything in the pc world.
Stability is what I want, not new widgets and add ons with each new OS release.

I didn't know they made Macs before 1984? ;-)

Your right.. The first Apple was released in Jan 1984. I'm a couple of years out with my dates... and wished now I'd have kept the Apple Cube.

@Mac5, you mean the first *Macintosh* was released in 1984. The first *Apple* computer was released in 1976. The first Apple computer that most people got to know, the Apple II, was released in 1977. :)

Yes, I meant the first Macintosh was released in 1984.
I actually didn't know that the first Apple computer was released in 1976.

I just love how apple discretely fails to admit that 10.9.4 fixes a slew of instability issues that 10.9.3 introduced to Mac Pro 2013. In fact 10.9.3 was so unstable and bad that games, pro apps, etc all crashed repeatedly and were unusable and several news sites did articles on how 10.9.3 was a disaster and apple provided no support to their pro users for the failure of an update. Many were forced to revert to 10.9.2. 10.9.4 fixes all these bugs of course but so much later than it should have taken and with no mention or admission from apple they ever screwed up in first place.

Anyways, if you have a 2013 mac pro. Yes 10.9.4 is safe. You can stop your 10.9.2 holdout now. If you are actually on 10.9.3, you can rejoice that many of your programs will now work again.

Nice step up from Mountain Lion. I just updated recently and have been enjoying the Mavericks exclusive apps by OmniGroup and Pixelmator.

Tags is nice and I hope for it to someday become a good replacement for OpenMeta. With Apple's continued focus on improving their search tools we will be able to get rid of antiquated folder hierarchies in no time!

Folder hierarchies aren't antiquated - they're clearly a demonstration of sensible subsetting.

Those who can't understand and navigate hierarchies are doomed to fail at any technological or organizational concept.

Has corrupted Windows 8.1 Boot Camp installation. Updates in Windows 8.1 no longer install. Also Windows Defender no longer active when booting. No longer able to use restore points. Very irritated.
