    Malia Software
If someone sends you a really big e-mail, you might want to leave it on the server or delete it rather than downloading it. The problem is that you can't get the other messages which are stuck on the mail server. You may also be the victim of 'mail-bombing'. That means that a sadistic mind sent you a lots of mail to "explode" your mail box. The only solution is to purge your mailbox. Mail Siphon provides an easy way to purge your mailbox or delete a specific e-mail without downloading the others.
Requirements
PPC, Mac OS 9 or later.

This is a very useful app, but I find that more often than not the fake bounce fails with a "address is missing a domain" error.

A way to combat Spam is to send a "fake bounce" back to spammers in the hopes that because your email bounced, you'll be removed from their mailing lists. The best way I've found to do this with my POP email boxes is first to check my mail with Mail Siphon 2.5, which allows me to view the mail before I download it to my computer. Mail Siphon has built into it this nifty "fake bounce" feature that let's you send the bounces with a single click! [from mrbarrett.com]

that's nonsense!

first, spammers don't care about bounced messages, your address won't be removed.

second, your smtp server has already accepted the message otherwise it wouldn't be in your POP or IMAP mailbox. thus, a fake bounce does nothing than show that you actually looked at the message.

the only way to combat spam through bouncing messages is at the smtp server level such that a connection request from the spamming smtp server is rejected WHILE IT ATTEMPTS TO TRANSFER. Anything else is too late.
