If you'd like to NOT use the app, you can use the Finder via the contextual menu to "Show Package Contents" and dig down to the actual font files. You can then preview them and install them as you wish. No fear of losing your identity required.

I own the MacWare 2000 fonts set. A few of the fonts in this free set are repeats. Otherwise they are all new.

Note that ALL of the fonts are ONLY 'regular' fonts. There are no bold, italic, etc. Therefore, if you use the fonts you'll depend upon your word processor to provide the font styles. However, they should all look fine as they are OTF, Open Type Format. They will also work fine on Windows.

About 1/3 of these fonts are nice and useful. Another third are specialty fonts that you may find useful for holidays, events or special occasions. The last third are crass and useless IMHO. In general, they aren't professional quality classy fonts. But there are some that are quite good and worth the digging to get them. The fact that they are free is very nice. But again keep in mind that none of these fonts are complete sets. They're all just 'regular' style fonts.

I go to dafont.com, best free fonts on the net and you don't have to use trashmail to get them.

dafont.com is a great free font website (probably my favorite), but just make sure the fonts you are using have the right license for what you need it for. Most include only a personal use license that you cannot use for any project you make a profit from (client projects).

Good tip about using Show Package Contents, thanks. This is probably a good set for people just starting out collecting fonts.

Keep in mind that most of the free fonts (and there are some great ones out there for free!) only include a personal use license so you cannot use these in any for-profit project you do for clients or any project that makes money or advertises in any way. The free MacFonts collection includes a 5 computer, commercial use license to use freely in any personal AND business project. And, you can unsubscribe at any time from our mailing list; if you don't want to unsubscribe you will receive some marketing emails from us in the future, but you will also receive additional free font downloads. In any case, you can decide if you want to stay on the list or not, and we will not sell you information to anyone else (if you are worried about that too).

Buyer beware: This is yet another Macware scheme to grab your contact information so they can spam you with marketing information. In order to access these so-called free fonts you have to give them your name and e-mail address. But you have no way of knowing beforehand which fonts are included or if you want or need them. If I knew which fonts are included I could make an informed decision whether or not it was worth giving them my info. But I'm not inclined to buy a pig in a poke, even if it is for free.

You can always register with a bogus name and email address. Just say "no" to spamware.

Hey, aren't lame marketing ploys like this the reason to have an extra, "dummy" email account and a go-to pseudonym?

Geez, you make it seem like we are some shady company out to steal and sell your information! We are providing a set of free fonts that also include a 5 computer commercial use license to use in any personal AND for-profit project. You won't find too many free font sites with this type of license, you generally have to pay extra for a commercial use license.

Yes, you do have to register for the fonts, but you can immediately unsubscribe from the mailing list if you never want to hear from us, it just takes an extra few seconds of your time to do so. We do not sell our mailing list, and we do not send marketing or notifications to download more free fonts to people who opt-out of our list.

On a side note, I did upload screenshots of the actual fonts, not the image shown here currently, so I will contact MacUpdate to make sure they fix that. I completely understand wanting to know what you are downloading beforehand.
