Bad player. Period. Stuttering playback, audio sync problems, sometimes not playing at all and hogging the CPU.

Alternative: Blu-ray player is just working as it should.

Don't waste any money on this.

Some companies/brands seem to represent a questionable "philosphy" in software "developement" and sales strategy against foreign customers because certain parts of the Chinese society perceive the rest of the world and the peoples outside "the empire of the middle" as a bunch of stupid barbarians - and so it's allowed to rip off the rest of the world...?

IMHO it's better to say no to

I agree, except for Wondershare which has been putting out good software for both the Mac and iOS.

I looked at the list and some companies I recognized and agreed with you for except _Wondershare_.

I just launched iSkySoft DVD Copy Pro and was prompted to update, this took me to Aimersoft DVD Backup's website.

I don't think it's a good idea to stereotype all China-based software development as shady, but I do think it's a good idea to be cautious about installing software in general, especially if you're not familiar with the company.

I have two specific disagreements with your list:

1. DVDFab (Fengtao Software) is an extremely well-known brand in the Windows world, and while Mac users are just now discovering them, I don't think they are in the same category as these other new jack outfits.

2. MacGo produces the only consistent and reliable Blu-ray playback solution for OS X. All the other companies, including Aurora and iDeer, are copying off of them. At some point in the future, VLC may be able to easily support Blu-ray playback, but for now, MacGo's commercial solution, which is based on VLC's code, is the best way. The product has been tested and is in use by a lot of people, so I don't think it fits in with the shady side of Chinese developed software either.

I agree completely with Negritude. Both Fengtao (DVDFab) and MacGo (Blu-ray Player) are real software companies producing original programs.

The others on your list sure do look, sound and smell like copycats.

Cancel my last review - its not free at all - it is in fact a bigger rip off than the Blu-Ray Player. Beware - there's no such thing as a free lunch!

Well done for showing up the $39.95 merchants. Develop it into a full and stable app and then charge a reasonable fee. Good Luck

I could be wrong, but I get a bad feeling every time I see a $39.95 audio/video/ripper/converter/player app. iSkysoft, Digiarty and Xilisoft all fall into this category and we all know what they're up to.
