Apple has stopped supplying X11 for Mountain Lion and when you click on the icon it tells you to download XQuartz. So this must be for older versions of OS X.
u r absolutely right
BTW: XQuartz (which is the open source project for X11) runs great on OS X 10.7.5. You don't actually need to watch for Apple X11 updates on Lion. Just keep up to date with XQuartz. You can find it here at MacUpdate.
I just ran Software Update on a machine running OS X 10.7.5 and it told me that my software was up to date, even though the version of X11 installed on the system is 2.6.4. Is X11 Update 2.6.5 showing up in Software Update for others?
It didn't show up for me either.
No X11 2.6.5 update in Software Update here either. But I am already up-to-date with XQuartz, which is the source project for X11.
I use XQuartz for Gimp, What if you have been getting all your updates from http://xquartz.macosforge.org/landing/ ? Would you need this update or would this just be about the same?
This update fixes Apple's X11.app to resolve the same GLX-related hang that was fixed in XQuartz 2.7.4.
