Why are you distributing this using the propreitary .sit format? Many folks (including me) do not like using Stuffit Expander.
You may want to consider using the more common .dmg or .zip format built into Mac OS X.
Yep, nowadays it's rare to find any developer still distributing products with SIT/SITX archives since Apple stopped bundling StuffIt Expander with OS X. Hey, but at least this least this is free. :)
I looked at the comments that were posted for this application and what I saw was that the first review that raved ( I think it was written by the developer) and the second was why bother Text Wrangler does the same thing( I guess it wasn't that impressive) but the thing is the first was written on 11/16/2003 and the
second on 1/16/2007 and the application is still in alpha development and he wants to charge 15.00 dollars! I think you see what my beef is!
Just to clarify something. I am not the developer. I have reviewed the fully working classic application TexFinder and not TexFinderX for Mac OS X as you might have read.
TextWrangler does the same thing and more for free.
After I found TexFinder a few years ago, my Internet-production life has changed significantly.
I use to create webpages with PageSpinner. My biggest site consits of roughly 900 single HTML/SHTML files at the moment. If I want to update text in a number of files, TeXFinder is a really big help.
It finds and replaces text in text files fast, efficiently and secure (with backup if you want). You can even replace longer passages (other apps are often limited to 256 characters) or define tables of multi-replace tasks.
You can list all files to work on in a window. In a preview window you can study the contents of your files and copy the parts you want to exchange.
TexFinder can of course find and exchange text in other text files as well and is furthermore able to change file names of text files.
It is very easy to handle and I can't think of working without this app.
Unfortunately this RealBasic application stays in classic mode. It's still working nice in the classic environment under Panther, but people who don't own Mac OS 9 on their OS X Hard drive will miss this great app.
