I received this app free through some long-forgotten promotion. I didn't have need for it at the time, but when the time came that I did need to use it, I could not because the SN had allegedly been changed because of a leak on the internet. more...

Due to complaints from members regarding the quality of MacX apps, we are removing their listings from MacUpdate.

OK I can get that, but I just bought the program as a part of some other bundle and it's misleading in your banner to say that "... has been discontinued." There is a difference between the software being discontinued and you no longer continuing to support it with MacUpdate. It's rather disconcerting to have the software tell me that there is an update and then go to MU to install it and have the Desktop app tell me it's been discontinued. You would serve you customers better with a note (or a link) that says to go to directly to the developer's web site.

Does the job, but what a CPU hog! I watched it for a while with Activity Monitor and it peaked at 97.5% at times, slowing down everything else I do, including typing this msg.

Not sure if it's a feature or a bug, but from my POV it needs to be addresses pretty urgently.

Of the many dodgy-looking converters available online and through MAS, MacX VCP is actually one of, if not, the best. Surprised I say that? Try it. It actually works remarkably well. It will convert any file format fairly quickly and, best of all, the conversions are usually very good quality. In many cases, the converted files are smaller than the original while still the same quality. Check the "high quality engine" box for best results, I've found.

The only problem I have with this app is the company that makes it. I had a license that somehow expired during the summer and I couldn't remember where the license came from. Luckily, digiarty had a promotion on their website for MacX Video Converter Pro sometime in July - it was free for a short period (which seemed fair to me since I had a license before). When the app started showing update notifications, I couldn't for the life of me work out where I could download the update without buying the app (again). I eventually found a link on their website for a direct download. I can't find that link today.

Perhaps the promotion did not include updates? In a way, I hope so because I'd be pretty upset if I'd paid full price and had to go through all of this just to get an update. However, if the promotion did not include updates, I'd be annoyed that the company did not make that clear in the first place. Their other products have deceptive names (DVD Ripper Pro) - perhaps they are a deceptive company??

If you go to their web site, you will notice no address or phone number. If that's not a flag I don't know what is.

Hopefully all goes well. I downloaded the discounted off software that has it until the 26th.

Interface looks clean and running through the features, it's quite useful... Just hope this isn't a trial license.

If you go to the developers website this is free until the end of July. They give you a license without having to give them any of your info.

They give you a licence code - yes. But it doesn't work! I suspect the free key is just a scam to get you hooked. Better to stick with HandBrake or iFFmpeg.

The code worked fine for me...you sure you typed it correctly?

I installed to a subdirectory of /Applications - license fails. Try again: Install to top level of /Applications - license ok. Live and learn.

Curious. I installed mine to my preferred subfolder and was able to apply the registration code without problem. I copied and pasted it rather than manually typing - perhaps that was the difference?

Hi. I tried the free version and bought Digiarty's MacX Video Converter Pro v 3.5 last fall. Everything worked OK. Although pricey, it did what I wanted -- until May 22, 2013 when they offered v 3.6. After loading the link to youtube, it processed a while then crashed. I've been in contact with Digiarty's customer service now for a bit over a week and just sent them my crash log after following their 4 suggestions - 1. delete program and re-download; 2. goto Lib/Digiarty and delete the file; 3. dragging the video link into the program loading window; and 4. send a crash log.

I am running OSX 10.8.3 on a MacBookPro 5,2, BootROM MBP52.008E.B05, 2 processors, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.66 GHz, 4 GB, SMC 1.42f4
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, PCI, 256 MB
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT, PCIe, 512 MB
Memory Module: 4 GB, DDR3, 1067 MHz, 0x80CE, 0x4D34373142353637334548312D4346382020

I have 2 of their other products so I can see why the prior poster talked about 'rebundling'. I'm hoping for the best after sending the crash log. They won't tell me if anyone else is having this problem. Is v 3.6 free or otherwise working for anyone else?

I received this app free through some long-forgotten promotion. I didn't have need for it at the time, but when the time came that I did need to use it, I could not because the SN had allegedly been changed because of a leak on the internet. Having already been through this with MacX DVD Ripper Pro I wrote the company for a new SN and received no response. Nada. Nothing. Zilch.

As far as I can tell, Digiarty Software Inc is not a serious developer but rather a company based on bait & switch type tactics. I won't be wasting my time with their software any more and will recommend others do the same.

Rating based on lack of usability.

you are exactly right. This is one of a dozen or more rip off programs from this rip off company. Each program is slightly different. In all cases the serial number is only valid during the very brief 'authentication' window (like an hour) after that it is invalid and cannot be sued for these crappy programs.

I emailed them with the same issue and they offered a lifetime upgrade for $19. Don't know that it's worth it.

Same thing here. And I sure am not going to purchase a license from them.

AVCHD created movies do not play in sync. with audio stream and suffers from hickups.

Too expensive and there are a lot of free alternatives that do the job correctly without any syncing problems.
