Dear MacUpdate users! After reading lots of comments you left under DAEMON Tools listing, we shall assume, that Disc-Soft Ltd moved forward a lot since those times. But, nevertheless, if you have something to say: Any critics, comments, claims - you are welcomed here! Our company appreciate your attention and opinion.

Too little, too late. This is pretty useless on the Mac, there are far better (and free) tools on Mac OS X after so many years. And for most purposes, the included Disk Utility is enough.

I've used the windows version of this, and it is a bloated dog of a thing. Thankfully, the Mac version is simple and does its task well. This is the only app I know of to easily mount cue/flac and cue/ape files. I have my CDs stored as lossless images so this app is great for mounting them. A minor annoyance is the inability to mount anything with an ISRC field in the cue file, and inability to mount cue's with tracks in separate files. A MAJOR annoyance, and the reason I'm contemplating not buying this and dumping it totally, is that it has some highly suspect privacy behaviour. Little Snitch has detected it attempting to open connections to resources.web-search-home.com - what the hell is this?

This says it's "expired" on launch and won't run. There's a newer version on the company website.

DAEMON Tools Lite for Mac appears to install files in directories in /usr This may being done in part by DAEMONToolsPrivilegedHelperLoader.app (DAEMONToolsVirtualSCSIBus.kext may also be a factor) and this may also bepart of source of "Helper tool" errors that prevent DAEMON Tools Lite for Mac from working as promised.

If the developer wants to make this useful for OS X users to mount things, perhaps consider disc images files that users have to boot into Mac OS 9 to mount as read/write images - like the ShrinkWrap disc image file format originally created by Chad Magendanz...

DAEMON Tool was as good disc image mounter on Windows, until it start to bundle WhenU AD-ware and force users to install the search bar tool. When the Windows 7 was released, the old version of DAEMON Tool was also the source of many crashes on my machine. So I switched to MagicDisk since 2010. On the Mac platform, I don't see it necessary to install such tool. Mac users get no problem with ISO, and you can also handle APE and CUE will with Cog and XLD. Disc images created with other 3rd party clone tool are primarily used for personal backup; they're seldom "released" to public.

When I first saw the comment by alekskiss, I thought it was the developer who gave his or her app 5 stars themselves. Apparently, my suspicion is correct if you see this guy's other comments talking like the developer. That's pretty cheesy.

ahahahh OMG why in the world a mac user would ever have the need of this? all images mostly are dmg and we can very well handle that as well all other formats around as it has been since os9, plus the majority of all the formats DT offers are winblows and never will come on mac.. then Titanium (maybe all winblows users coming to ac doesnt know, so please instead of dreaming of all s*i*s you have on microsoft try to learn the best you can all possibilities a mac can offer) ... titanium can handle a large variety of images, as cue nrg etc... specificalli for nero you just need to change the extension to .toast as its exactly the same, and the rest is for all the others applications i've seen during these years. So thaks daemon and all others winblows publishers for your interest on mac, but PLEASE if you like mac just buy it, DONT feel in the need to keep your OLD custumers which moved to mac by offering (i mean trying to keep em all anyways) services they dont have anymore, most of times you just need to read the Manual!!! it becomes so boring to see all these win developers making their soft mac friendly... now on 2012, Why you dindn't offer the same many years ago.. when we really were in the need of it??? But maybe its the way it must be, apple anyway now sux, no more macpros, shortly no more system either, just a stupid tablet with a shining interface and so on... Goodbye Macintosh r.i.p my old good friend

Why is that we don't have the option to mount a DMG? That's an image too, when I tried to mount a dog, I got the following error "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.", I ignored it and its not mounted, but shows up as mounted with just the file path :(. Next when I try to unmount it, I get the following "Unable to eject .dmg. Image is in use by some application. Try quitting applications and press Retry or press 'Eject' to ignore it." The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer. Still can eject it.

This is going to be really interesting to see how this app is going to perform on Mac, having said that, what additional features can be expected for the next couple of releases? BTW your thumbnail is of a Windows machine, you definitely want to change it in here :)

It is going to be interesting to see how useful this tool becomes on the Mac. I have found it very handy on Windows, as there, disk image files can't be mounted without a tool such as this. However, since Mac OS X is able to mount .iso files, the real value this tool will have is with the other image formats. In the end, it will depend how commonplace those other formats are in comparison to .iso.
