iCat is the OS X version of one of the dumbest applications on the planet, Cat.app, which I wrote for the Classic Mac OS. This totally useless waste of bits is a floating cat head that lets out various quotes, noises, and smells. Note: prolonged use can lead to spontaneous decapitation.

With all due respect to the late Stimpson J. Cat.

I havent tried that software, but that story touched my heart! I have had cats that were truly unique characters in the past, so I can fathom at what it must've been like. My respects to the late Stimpson J.

I use Cat-in-the-Dock which ROCKS.
His eyes are closed when he's not active in the dock. Just click and enjoy!
Utterly and totally useless! And I love it.
As for you cat haters; "I find your lack of faith disturbing".

It's just like the man says, a pointless piece of software. But I had to see it for myself. Cute though. I luv the Nixon transformation. I'd luv to see more of these though, like iBill (Bill Clinton), iBrad (Brad Pitt). You'd have a thriving bizness.

I hate cats. They're filthy vermin, (read about toxoplasmosis here: http://kidsncats.lisaviolet.com/toxo.html), and compete with, and prey upon wildlife, whether well fed or not. They also do their business in my garden, but unlike a dog, where you can at least see it, and shovel it out of the way, these filthy vermin bury it so you don't find it until you have to wash your hands. The only healthy cat is a dead one...

...or a simulated one. So this program gets a big thumbs up from me, if it helps some deluded cat-lover live their dream (or should that be "dream their life"?)
If you have to have a real cat, at least take one from a rescue center, not one from a pet store or a breeder. And have it neutered. The cat sales industry has enough animals to go around without breeders adding to the problem.

The only thing I don't understand in the tribute is: "He was exceptionally smart, like a dog". All cats are smarter than dogs. Except my sisters cat which thinks it's a dog and is pretty dumb. If you can't train a cat to do tricks, it's because it's independent, not stupid. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike dogs but they are DUMB. OK, some working dogs are pretty smart but thats it, really.

Oh yeah:

Don't de-claw cats! It's barbaric. If you want a pet without claws get something else. Why take away something that is an intrinsic part of an animals nature? If you can't get a cat to stop clawing your furniature that's probably your failure.

If you live in an apartment block, you bought the wrong pet! If you don't have a garden or live in the country, don't get a cat, they need to go out and hunt and do cat things.

Cat-in-the-dock was kinda fun but got tedious after a while. I'll give this a go and see how I like it.
