With Network Strength, you can quickly and easily check your wifi network strength in your menu bar. The percentage in the toolbar icon represents the strength of your connection between your router and your computer. The best number possible would be 100%, but this isn't necessarily possible with every router and computer pairing. The noise represents the amount of noise that is interfering with the connection. For this representation, a lower number is better.

Network Strength 1.4 caused all kinds of havoc on my OS 10.7.5 iMac. It would not start at login, despite having set the preference for it. Worse, the first time I ran it after restarting the system (when it wouldn't start at login, as mentioned above) it kicked on something called sandboxd, which ran my 2.16 GHz Core2Duo at around 34% (combined) nonstop for 12 minutes until I turned off Network Strength, which, after clicking its menubar icon, ran the Spinning Beachball of Death for roughly 50 seconds until finally responding so I could shut it down, at which point everything returned to normal. I immediately uninstalled it.

Then my colleague told me he had similar problems with Network Strength on his brand new maxed-out 3.5 GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7 iMac.

Thanks for making it free, but….

If the problems listed above could be solved, I’d consider paying up to $1 for Network Strength if:

1) it could be moved to any position I like along the menu bar, like the OS X Wi-Fi status icon can;
2) its color, size and font could be changed;
3) it was embeded within some kind of graphical Wi-Fi status icon — perhaps like the standard one that most of us use (the one that’s selectable from the 'Network' system preferences pane);
4) it was not solely distributed through the hated (cr)App Store.

As it is, because I use a few other optional menubar items, most apps have so many of their own that Network Strength's position at the far left end makes it the first to be dropped/excluded/obscured/nuked, usually by the 'Help' menu.

Nevertheless, thanks for offering it for free.

Twice I've tried this app on my MBP running 10.7.3. When launched all that happens is (OFF) appears in my menubar. Don't know what is up with that.
