iFileX is very smart and cool.
However, in iFileX, since Japanese is not supported, Japanese cannot be inputted.
I strongly hope that iFileX support Japanese as soon as possible.

Just looked for a way to contact the developer but nothing obvious on the dev's web page.

one BIG problem I have just discovered is that if I want to delete a bunch of files (eg app or system) I need to enter my admin password for EVERY file - rather than entering my password once, iFileX requires 20 passwords for 20 files!

dev - please change this, other wise this becomes a show stopper for me

It works OK, but the UI and functionality seem quite derivative of Find Any File (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30079/find-any-file): apart from the HUD chrome, I can't see any difference. And Find Any File has been around a long time. This app is free, but it's better to support the original.

This is excellent.

I've used EasyFind for years, but was looking for an application that would easily apply Spotlight's more extensive search parameters to hidden files.

iFileX seems to take no longer to complete its search than does EasyFind. In any case, I usually leave EasyFind's window while it's searching. Watching incomplete search results arrive hasn't been critical for me yet.

Thank you for making such a useful free application.

Okay, it is hide. Now found and working. Thank you. ;)
I just found another problem while try drag the Modification Date column to resize it or to move it. To explain better: I can do with anothers columns but not with Modification Date column.
One last question: is possible change the columns position? Mean say, put Kind column before Size column, for example. I tried do this with mouse/command ou mouse/option without success. Again thank you. ;)

Nice useful utility for uninstalling stuff.
I especially likes the dupe checker and the ability to only show hidden files.

Great is free.

You can't expand the interface to the size you'd like (the text field is locked in size). It doesn't show you live results (you have to wait or click stop to see them).

The far better alternatives to this is EasyFind or HoudahSpot. With both you see results either live or as they load and can act upon the result immediately.

iFileX is nice and minimalist, but it's form over function in my testing.

Guess you are missing point. easyfind and houdahspot are basically spotlight engines and they cannot search as a root users and more. IMO ifilex is much better in finding files that Spotlight (and 3th party engines) cannot find.

I think you may be missing my point. While HoudahSpot is a front-end to Spotlight, EasyFind will actually search deeper (have you ever used EasyFind?). And, once again, both show results as you search which is critical for most practical usage of a search.

For common searches I use HoudahSpot because it's extremely faster and much more powerful than iFileX. In the very rare cases HoudahSpot misses anything, I'll then use EasyFind which also gives extremely faster results than waiting on iFileX.

You may have esoteric search needs that make you feel that iFileX is better suited for your anecdotal experience, but for the rest of us there's HoudahSpot and EasyFind.

While I agree Easyfind isn't a bad application, iFilex is imo a bit better just because it has a simple but handy tree list. The possibility to set the correct folder in the Terminal is massive but I guess not everyone needs this.
It can display several result screens at ones which is handy too.
iFilex does not seem to use Spotlight which could explain why it is a bit slower compared to Easyfind. On the other hand this is a big plus too because you can search non Spotlight indexed volumes very fast.
Both have their ups and downs but for me iFilex is the one to use.

@Cowicide
Thank you for your valuable input. Always highly appreciated.
You certainly made a good point - it can be helpful when you see the results appearing in realtime. ATM this is not the case with iFileX because it would slow down the searching. Though it is pretty fast now, you do not have to wait that long for results (mostly some seconds).
But I have put your idea on the to do list. Maybe I can make it a preference so the user can choose to wait or to see the result window immediately.

If you have any other feature request or ideas, just drop me a mail at info@osxbytes.com
