I can't simply obtain a demo and make a decision? I have to literally sign up for something.
Ordinarily, I would just make a comment instead of giving a rating, but this is outrageous.

Note that they require a credit or debit card number but do not charge your account unless you do not cancel within 30 days.
(Your "step 2" is an option by which you can acquire Poser Debut free.)
Also note that the above $29.99 is the Mac App Store price; the version available directly from Smith Micro costs $49.99. I've got absolutely -0- idea what, if any, differences there are between the two.
