Madden NFL 2000 allows you to play action-packed American football on your computer. In this demo version you can only play in Exhibition Mode and can play as either the Atlanta Falcons or the Denver Broncos. The game begins in the second half with Denver leading Atlanta 17-6 and receiving the ball.

I love this game, I've had the full version for 4 years and I still play it every now and then. The gameplay, graphics, controls are all excellent. And although I didn't even know the rules of American Football (I'm in Australia) the whole game is fantastic. I'm not sure about Multiplayer though, I had some trouble with it. But single player is awesome, the only game I still play after 4 years (and maybe Links LS)

The demo doesn't offer much, but the full game is very cool. Madden 2001 and 2002 beat it in the graphics and options department, but it's still a very fun game. Wish there were an OS X version available.

The game plays very well in the coaches mode. The only complaint I have is that there are no printed playbooks. The player is forced to scroll through screens of plays and you are under time constraints - on the offense, if the play clock is on and on the defense, you only have a few seconds to select your play after the offense has made their selection. Graphics are fairly well done and the game gives you different views of the field. There are plenty of features to keep the game from getting boring. YOu can create your own team and players including designing the uniform and playbook. If you don't want to go that far you can stick with making a few trades or additions to your favorite team and modifying the plays in the existing playbook. You can even choose another teams playbook to use for variety.

The game lets you vary weather conditions, team speed and you can even fine tune the opposing teams players by changing their abilities, speed, accuracy, etc. The game has many many more features that keeps it from getting boring.

There is a small learning curve, but you can quickly overcome it by going into the practice mode and learning all the controls.

As far as complaints, I don't have many. The interface is not very Mac like, but than again few games are. The biggest complaint I have is that it occasionally hangs up and forces you to restart losing everthing in the game being played. I wish it would automatically save data periodically throughout the game. These are minor things to grumble about and this is one of the best games ever made for the Mac. Unfortunately, the 2000 version is the only version available since future releases are not supported

I am surprised to find Madden 2000 on MacUpdate's popular list. Madden was released in late 1999 and was last updated well over a year ago. Plus, Aspyr was unable to deliver Madden 2001 or 2002 to the Mac market.

Compared to all the other Mac football games, Madden is the best! Seriously, the game does a good job incorporating game playability with the front office tasks of signing free agents, the draft, salary cap, etc.

The only low marks I give for in game play is the passing game which seems hit or miss. Way too many passes batted down at the line, tipped or intercepted for my tastes. There are prefs to modify individual offensive and defensive settings, but I found if I make the game easy enough to be successful passing, my running game was unstoppable.

The only point I'll nit pick in the front office part is in the draft. Eventually WR, TE and even some LBs start getting some jersey numbers that are fine for college, but not the NFL. A way to modify that (like in NHL 2001) would have been great.
