Simple Backup Utility is the solution for enterprise clients who are unable to utilize Apple's Time Machine because of its limitations in routed environments. While there are many known "hacks" that allow Time Machine to function in unintended scenarios, the results are often unreliable.

It's hard for me to troubleshoot issues without specific information. Please specify your current OS version and as many relevant details that can help me recreate your issues. Also, be sure to check the SYSTEM.LOG file and filter on SIMPLE BACKUP UTILITY. Screenshots would also be useful. You can delete the following preference file to start from scratch.

~/Library/Preferences/com.thomsontown.Simple-Backup-Utility.plist

It seems as of 1.0.2 the app no longer crashes... it just doesn't do anything at all. Once the preferences are set the first time upon launch, the preferences are no longer accessible. And after 24 hours it has copied even one file. To access preferences again, the app must be terminate and reinitialized, though that does nothing to make it actually function. In other words, things have gotten worse, not better.

Let's add on the fact that the developer's site also appears more interested in mimicing current style than putting usability first. The download link is the programs icon at the head of the page, which is actually a "refresh" icon, and it took a while to figure out it was there.

And again, as with Scott, maybe I can upgrade its rating once it stops crashing.

Crashes every time I try to select a source. I am running 10.7.2. If this bug gets fixed, then maybe I can actually test it and give it a review.
