This broke some of my Java apps so I am finally gonna bin them stupid Java I hate Java so much...why can't people just use C based languages and Python/Ruby all the Java stuff is crap and owned by a crap company. It is like ActionScript just horrid mess. YMMV but I "personally" hate everything coded in it.

Yeah I use Python and C languages so what! ;)

Me neither can't stand it tried it but could not get into the idea of cross platform apps they always had a significant loss over apps written for the platforms own language & framework/API's.

If I see Java on an OSX app I run away. If I see Java on a Win app I run away. If I see java on a Linux app I certainly run away.

There is always an alternative to Java...it never quite turned out to be the killer of all other languages did it....although it does okay on Android phones but Google will bin it when there own language mature 100% no way they want Larry on their backs forever.

Apple is washing their hands of Java and by the time we get to 10.8, the OpenJDK project should have taken over. Then you won't have to worry about timely updates anymore.

Yes, but until then, Apple is still dragging their feet...

Java SE 7 development is underway, but, as usual way behind other platforms:

Although, there is a JDK7 for Mac OS X Developer Preview, here:

Sun (or whoever owns the company now) is late, not Apple. Since sometime ago, Apple only distributes the updates for Java.

Down loaded Java and it seem to work with my addition of Lion.
I have other issues with Lion, but for now Java is working just fine.

I installed it on my Lion MBP, but still can't run a web based charting program which is asking for Java to be installed.

So it was completely useless to me, anyway.

Well done Apple!!!!! i'm sitting in my car parked out side my employer's office downloading the java installer over WIFI because without it Photoshop won't launch!!!!!!!

I know you hate Flash but is this loathing spreading to all adobe products?

after applying this java update not included with lion,VUZE will again work properly and receive incoming connections.

make sure your firewall is either disabled or set to allow incoming connections with vuze!

This is also downloaded automaticlaly on first run if you just open java prepferences in the utilities folder, it's basically install on demand software and will install itself once you try to use it. Stand alone is convinient for mass distribution though.
