This is the best note software that I've ever used, for my particular needs, out of myriads that I've tried. This is simple, clean, functional, elegant, and stays out of the way while still being instantly available anytime I need it. It has exactly just the right amount of features for my use. The developer is really responsive too. I suggested a feature, and within one day he had released a new version that implemented that feature. He also responded within an hour of a small bug report I sent, and he worked with me for two days while we tracked it down and squashed it. Very professional and very responsive! 5 Stars all around!

With excellent response from the author I have sorted out my initial problems. From our discussions I am convinced that he is fully committed to making this a 5 star app, and with a few tweaks to the user interface I reckon it will be there. It suits my requirements perfectly.

Can't get it working under Lion. None of my notes stick, nothing appears in the hierarchical menu, my notes don't appear in the bottom right menu. What am I doing wrong???

OK. The program isn't setting up a folder in "Documents". I created one myself, inserted some notes, re-started SideWriter. They now appear in the application. But I still can't create notes in the application.

Version 0.8.0 is the release candidate to become version 1.0.0

If you have any questions, remarks, suggestions, complaints now is the time :)

Of course it will not stop at 1.0.0 ;)

Nice. Unlike Sidenote, allows you to see the window from all spaces!
Simple (maybe?) request: different colors for different note pages?
Thank you.

A suggestion after 3 minute!:
1. Please let user to choose any folder for collecting side notes.
2. Please (I know it's too hard but!) prepare a simple environment for managing notes. I mean a form that you can see all notes' title, and then you can delete some notes and so.

Not reviewing since this is in beta, but I do have some observations:

I like the simplicity and the unobtrusiveness of the app. I also like that I can set how quickly the app shows and hides and that I can place the window pretty much anywhere along the side of my desktop.

What I would like to see: 1) ability to set type style as right now the font size is way too small, IMO; 2) quicker way to switch between notes, perhaps by clicking on the corner of the note? 3) dedicated folder where all the note files can be stored, rather than in my documents folder as individual files scattered throughout; 4) search capability.

Good work, I'm looking forward to future updates.

Hi, thanks for your suggestions.

1) You can select another font by right-clicking in the edit area. Standard font shortcuts work as well cmd+ cmd- cmd-b cmd-i. But i'm investigating other ways to select fonts styles.

2) I'm also investigating other ways to switch notes.

3) Should be included in the next version

4) after the first 3 points ;)

Actually, this "quicker way" is not very helpful. Unless I'm missing something, I've got to open this other view in order to start a new note and the only way to rename the note is to do so through this second side panel. Getting too complicated. It was much better before.

Hi, thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'm implementing best of both worlds now.

Hi, I've put the + and - buttons back in the main view. Are you happy now with switching between notes ? You can type the note name in the header field OR use the popup menu from the gear-button OR use the tree view.
