This update seems to be for all Macs with Thunderbolt ports. I've corrected the listing to reflect that. Thanks!

The bigger joke is how many peripherals we can plug in. Still waiting............

Six peripherals via Thunderbolt isn't bad.... do you have more than six Thunderbolt peripherals you wish to plug in?

@Desterwallaboo, you missed my point. Give me a URL to a product that is currently shipping with a Thunderbolt port that is not a Apple computer....

Thunderbolt peripherals start rolling out at the end of the month. I've been following this pretty close. Apple was the first to have the technology... tech mags stated that Apple was 6-12 months ahead of everyone else on this technology. So, yes... you will see other computer manufacturers with the technology soon enough.

@desterwallaboo: what you say is correct, "if" there were at least six third-party Thunderdobolt peripherals on the market.... but as of today, this number sounds as "zero". this is the plain reality.

Right... as of today.... but there are already several announced Thunderbolt products that will start shipping by mid-July.

They were announced, and several were demonstrated months ago.

So... Promise, LaCie, and Wiebetech have all announced Thunderbolt peripherals..... more to come.

Several industry leaders who never pre-announce products have expressed extreme interest in Thunderbolt technology.... including Wester Digital, Apogee Electronics, and AJA Video Systems. These are all big players in the pro arena.

The wait time is no different than what occurred with FW800, and originally FW400. The biggest difference is that Intel is putting their muscle behind Thunderbolt, unlike what happened with Firewire.

Be calm. I remember the year 1998 when the first USB iMacs were released, they were a shock, initially there was no periphereal connectable to it. Then it began to come and come and come—

Speaking of USB, Cattus, it's ironic that Apple is 6-12 months ahead of the game on USB, FireWire, Thunderbolt... and was 12+ months late to the game with USB 2.0 and now USB 3.0, both of which are/will be vastly more popular (and iMacs and MacBooks are purchased primarily by consumers, not pros).

Why.... speak of the devil.... peripherals rolling out today....
