Permute is the best for conversion, unless you REALLY know what you are doing. Then iffmpg is beyond compare.

Yes, but since Flash1296 wrote this, iFFmpeg's many major updates have implemented simple presets to make it easy for even the inexperienced to convert movies with outstanding results. Permute is super simple, but its presets produce lower quality conversions.
