Palua is the easy way to quickly switch the mode of your Function Keys on any Mac keyboard!

You need to run a game, or start a graphic application, or work on a project that need F1-F12 as function keys, just hit option+command+TAB and the switch will happen.

And as usual, done by Molowa, simple, elegant and out of the way.
What's New
Version 3.0.1:
  • Fixed a bug preventing Palua from starting on Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
  • Fixed a bug requiring a restart for smart mode to work after a first launch.
Requirements
Intel, Mac OS X 10.6 or later.

used to use FF but its just too buggy now.

nearly perfect yes but would like it if right clicking the menulet displayed the menu and normal clicking toggled the functionality

Done! In next release! But reversed. Left click shows the menu and right click toggles the functionality

@Molowa

thanks for that, curious as to why it's reversed, doesn't current Mac conventions use right click for context menu and left click for function? Please reconsider the reversed bit

also noticing under 10.7 it keeps defaulting to fn when I've always had it the other way around

Hi, no the icon in the menubar is a StatusItem also called a menulet. Its primary function is to display a menu, hence the menu shown with a left click. Palua 3.0 that includes that switching facility and a new tab to manage apps has been submitted to the appstore yesterday. If you really need that to be as you described, I can add a preference to toggle the default behavior.

Let me know.
