JDownloader is open source, platform independent, and written completely in Java. It simplifies downloading files from One-Click-Hosters like Rapidshare.com or Megaupload.com - not only for users with a premium account but also for users who don't pay. It offers downloading in multiple parallel streams, captcha recognition, automated file extraction, and much more. Of course, JDownloader is absolutely free of charge. Additionally, many "link encryption" sites are supported - so you just paste the "encrypted" links and JD does the rest. JDownloader can import CCF, RSDF and the new DLC

It seems like it's not quit compatible with fileserve..!
even though I added my premium account but still act like a free user at Fileserve... I DONT KNOW Y .. :(
also I think the interface needs a little work just to blend with OS X lion.

After learning how to use it, I can say it is very complete and powerful. I tried some downloaders which weren't free and were not as efficient as JD. Congratulations.
The only weekness : a beautiful paper interface windows like...

Note, the new version requires Java 1.6 or higher (which means OS 10.6 or later).

From their website:
"JDownloader requires Java Runtime Enviroment (jre/jdk) 1.5 or higher. If possible, you should use the latest Java version."
The latest version runs perfectly fine under 10.5.8 and is PPC compatible.

Thank you, they must have corrected that not long after I posted, because it did say before that the base requirement was 1.6. I'm happy to be wrong. :-)

Out of curiosity, are you using a PPC machine and have you actually run the program? I just tried installing/running the latest version and refuses to start, indicating it needs 1.6 or higher. So, something is not right. I knew there was a reason I made my original statement.

OK, I figured it out. You have to go to the developer's web page and download the version that is specifically marked as being for Java 1.5 (Downloadserver #2). The default link here on MU only works on 1.6:

Sorry for the late response. I see that you already figured out the issue. I do have a PPC and have been using the software for a very long time now. When I started it was not even mentioned here at Macupdate, so I did not follow Macupdate's download link, and the updates are done within the app itself :)

@Sgginc,
It's common for JDownloader to find files to update, usually hosters and decrypters.
Occasionally there are also added features and/or bug fixes.
Since you had 0.8.821 which is an older version, the program found many things to update. After updating to the current version, it finds nothing more to update. It will probably find some updates in a matter of weeks once again.
