CSS Image Encoder is a handy little utility that allows you to encode your website's images into base64 code. This allows you to turbocharge your website, as the images you reference will be loaded from the base64 code and not from an external resource, which drastically increases the rendering speed. It's good to minimize HTTP requests, but it's only fair to remind people that base64 Data URIs aren't properly supported in IE, and then only with images up to 32kb (and in IE6 & IE7 not at all, without MHTML techniques).

It's also worth pointing out that all this can be done for free with the Base64 Online Generator:

That's correct. IE does not properly support this. While your link does convert images to base64, it does not create ready-to-use CSS style sheets, nor creates CSS # blocks (for those who already have a stylesheet) that can be pasted into a CSS document automatically.

Why don't the advertisements in this application utilize this; any particular reason why?

They do. Turn off your internet connection and they will still be working. By the way, to celebrate black friday and cyber monday, this app is half price ($2!) this weekend should you be interested! :)
