It would also be nice to be able to specify the sort order in a folder. Currently it sorts alphabetically, but an option to sort by modified date or file extension or size would be useful.
I don't like to install apps and add more clutter and files unless I am really convinced that they improve functionality and work flow. I was kind of disappointed that the developer's website is not that very informative. A screencast that shows exactly what the app does would be very handy. At least some more info.
So far, I understood that it is "just" another way to organize ur folders. But going to the dock (finder) or to the side of the screen is not making that much difference to me. And I already use apps that group my favourite or recent folders.
However, if this app could combine all this with a similar functionality as the discontinued StickyWindows (Donelleshi) was having... and allow the user to drag folders and windows to the side of the screen where they nest as tabs... Well, that would make it really worth it for me.
Thanks for your feedback. Didn't the annotated screenshot explain it well enough ? I guess not :)
I got the idea to develop SideFolders because i didn't find it practical to drag a file from a Finder window into the application i was working with. Typically you loose sight of your application as soon as you switch to Finder since all Finder windows are put in front.
What SideFolders has over files/folders in the dock is that it offers a contextual popup menu. I especially like this for recent downloads.
You can add files and folders to SideFolders but it's not mean to be a StickyWindows kind of application. SideFolders is a file/folder management utility not a window management utility, if i understood correctly.
Thanks for the reply. Yes the screenshot gave me pretty much an idea, but somehow I was thinking that there might be more to it... The info was straightforward, just the essentials. This might seem sufficient... if u already know how it works. But people who are new to this, will always have more questions.
Anyway, I do appreciate the effort to explain it to me. It shows that as a developer, u care about what ur (potential) clients think and need.
Ur app does seem handy. And yes u can make the distinction btw window management utilities and finder management utilities; I am using apps from both categories. But I need both, so I still feel that a combination would be a winner!
This said, I will give ur app a try.

I made a couple of suggested features/ideas to the developer that were incorporated into revised version. Overall a handy little app that I am sure many will find useful

I have a trial licence and I am assuming that it is working? I have no idea, this is frustrating.
Half a star for a potentially good idea but it would be nice to try...
Just noticed the price in the AppStore in Australia is AUD$5.99 compared to USD$4.99. The AUD is worth MORE than the USD, so it should be LESS in AUD, not MORE!! I guess Apple Australia just ripping us off... wish we could buy direct from developer...
i've sent you an email regarding this issue.
