The only downer is the amount of CPU usage. On an iMac i5 it runs 80% (used by EvoCam) most of the time. Slows up the computer quite a bit. If the developer could improve the cpu usage, I'd give it 5 stars.

The only problems I've had have been getting the wireless camera connected to my router (thanks to terrible mac support from the camera manufacturer). Once that was done, enter Evo Cam and the rest was a breeze. I was able to select my camera from a drop-down list and it just worked. I had several requirements - ftp'ing a named image to my server every minute, storing an image locally every minute so that I can make a timelapse, and storing a daily image for a different timelapse. I've been able to do all this and a lot more. Being able to crop the camera's image and add my website's name along with the timestamp was all a bonus.
Very easy to use without referral to the manual and does far more than I need. Very happy to pay. Thanks again.

I understand thats impossible to support all , but why lost support of IP cams which are already implemented in V3.
My EDIMAX 1500GW works with 3.0 but is not listed in 4.0. So i will not buy V 4.0.

I understand that first they work on main development tasks before adding the known older IP cams.

Bonus pro tip: The plural of "camera" is "cameras" not "camera's".

BTW: Thanks for the grammar lesson.

I love the program and features but it just isn't fast enough on older hardware even with the pref checked to reduce cpu usage.

The only proviso I'd give, if you want to watch lots of network cameras: "hide" your active windows and watch via mjpeg in a browser window instead. This may be isolated to just my machine but running lots of opengl windows for an extended period (2-3 days) caused me to have artifacts that wouldn't go away without a reboot. This is NOT a problem with EvoCam, but a problem either with my mac/it's Nvidia GT120 cards in multi-head or with 10.6. I currently have a crap .html file that I've created that lists img src = http://localhost/N/video.cgi for each of my active network camera windows and it's working swimmingly. Another bit of advise, depending on your camera, avoid mpeg4/rtsp, as my attempts to use it with VLC and Quicktime Player both resulted in the same artifacts that I mentioned above.
In conclusion, this is the best money -period- I've spent on software for my Mac. And bravo to the Evological team for answering support requests -quickly- in the middle of the night.

I was using it with three cameras (two wireless network cameras and one usb) to keep an eye on my 86 year old father who was living with us. I set it up each camera to upload a picture to a web page every three minutes and then archive 50 or so to another page. I also have it set up (with the help of DynDns) to see live feeds. When Dad would fall, I could call a neighbor to pop in and help him up. (I am lucky to have such a nice neighbor.) It was great piece of mind.
Then one day I go to the office and boot my computer and the sound is all the way up. I almost never have the sound turned on. So, I bring one of my cameras to work and set it up there to monitor my workstation. Turns out one of the tenants in an adjoining space was breaking into our office at night to watch porn on my computer. With the help of EvoCam and the police we caught him and had the incriminating photos to prove it. (Trust me, these were porn in their own right.) He went to jail! I went out for Lysol. Yuk!
Now, two cameras monitor the dogs and the house on motion detection and one monitors my work station.
I keep my EvoCam up to date and have had no issues. I have used it both on a PPC and an Intel Mac.
EvoCam has worked flawlessly for me. I highly recommend it.
