With WebStart, it's never been easier to manage a professional web sever. Everything is a one-click task.
Three versions of PHP are included with WebStart as well as a bunch of other software needed by all web developers.
WebStart has been tested with most of the actual CMS and frameworks. It lets you easily deploy any number of websites on your local Mac.
WebStart is more than just a web server. It consists a full-featured webserver environment for your Mac. It includes an Apache 2, MySQL, and OpenLDAP servers, running out of the box.
What's New
Version 1.3.0:
Websites created with WebStart can now have a custom location, anywhere on your hard disk.
Dommage que la dernière version ne fonctionne que sous 10.7 et que pour la version 10.6 on ai en 1.1 qui ne possède pas de Trial ! Comment tester ??????
I have installed uninstalled and re-installed several times and am unable to get Apache to run.
It starts and runs for a few seconds and then stops
I am using a macbook Pro and the only non stock standard thing is a Buffalo NAS box.
The error log has two warnings and one alert
the first warning concerns that the RSA Server certificate is a CA certificate and the second warning is another RSA Server CN where "eosgarden" does not match the server name.
The Alert is:
(EAI 8)node name nor servname provided, or not known: mod_unique_id: unable to find IPv4 address of "192-168-1-4.tpgi.com.au"
I posted on the author BB and sent email without any response.
I had used MAMP Pro before. I like this because the included modules are very easy to keep up-to-date and the software bundle looks very complete. The setup requires more work than with MAMP. I like this.
Months ago, I asked the developer of MAMP if support for FastCGI could be added. Never got a response and it was never added.
I just made the very same request to the developer of WebStart, and he responded right away by saying that FastCGI would be added tomorrow (March 8, 2011) in version 1.0.4 !!!
Paid version is less expensive than MAMP Pro. Very responsive developer who seems dedicated to keeping this package up to date. (In fact, I suggested some kind of auto-update feature, and it appeared within 6 hours.) If you have a need for this kind of thing (ie MAMP or XAMPP etc) I'd strongly suggest you give this a go. Plus, he's gathered together a zillion open-source "companion" programs... I'm a happy camper.
[Version 1.0.3]

then (within TYPO3 world) i discovered Webstart ... VERY WELL DONE PROJECT!
the developer is very good.. it took me a few hours to buy the license..
the only issues i had to think about was the migrations of mysql db.
the develoepr says webstart is already 10.7 ready.. so.. what do we need more?
ah: the autoupdating of all components is fantastic!
i really hope this project to become popular
