Roccat Browser is an amazing browser from the fludium family. Roccat Browser is an amazingly fast Web browser, which has some great features such as:
VisiTabs which gives a preview of the website in the tab.
Navigate Launchers- assign letters or words to navigate to webpages, there are already many preloaded ones
Ad-Remover built within the engine
Great internal engine effects, purple glows on inputs, hold down on text field for 5 seconds for them to enlarge.
Email-Previewer; tells you when a link is an email link and tells you the link
What's New
Version 2.4:
8 Bug fixes including RClouds bug fixes and the on going bug which still added a bookmark when the cancel option was pressed.
New security update
Minor design changes to RClouds, you can now also login to Lovebyt.es with your RuneID/RCloudID
- New add bookmark, add new tab and check version buttons added to the titlebar utilizing wasted screen estate.
I am not going to lie, I do LOVE Roccat, I currently use it as my primary browser.
But I can't help but feel that there haven't been many new features, Roccat 2.0 was amazing and introduced lots of new features, but since then nothing new has been added except security & visual updates and bug fixes. I would like to see some new features, afterall I always saw Roccat as the browser which was progressing the most, I understand there is a limit to the amount of new things which can be added but still would like to see something new!
Hopefully your next version will bring something awesome, if you bring something new and awesome I will rate a 5 star again!
not claiming to having thoroughly tested the app, i came across two heavy flaws as it seems:
- connection to leading password managers is obviously not given
- import option of bookmarks only restricted to the ridiculous Safari and the even less appreciated Chrome applications are a strong con.
Yes this is correct, currently companies like 1password and others are not yet supporting supporting Roccat, this is something we cannot do anything about.
We have started planning our own Implementation but it will take a very long time due to the high amount of security and testing required.
We support Firefox as well as Safari and Chrome for bookmark importing. What browser did you have in mind?
some weeks ago i have been changing to Chromium, seen the fact that Omniweb was no longer supported by recent 1PW versions, and i never have been regretting this step, quite in the opposite
Well we get loads of people asking for 1PW support but obviously that's down to the team who make 1PW. I have directed everyone to ask the 1PW to developers to implement this feature.
If you would like to send us your email via our contact form at: http://runecats.com/contact.html we'll be sure to contact you back with any progress we have either with 1PW or in our own implementation.
Up until today I had Roccat 1.0 running and it restored previous sessesion's tabs. Now with 2.3 there appears to be no option for this under preferences, i.e. always starts up with one fresh window. Is this feature enabled elsewhere than in preferences, or is it no longer available?
Never mind. Now it starts back up with previous opened tabs.
Seems a purdee decent browser, but will use it a while longer before posting a review. I do, however, like the grey "eco" background in the search page -- philosophically, if not aesthetically. Not so much for the saving of energy, but for the minimal wear and tear on my rig's LEDs.
We're glad it's all sorted now, we're also glad you like Runesearch:Eco, if you come across any problems feel free to contact us via email or on our forum.
It's funny you should mention that, there will be an add tab button in the title bar in 2.4 which will be out on the 24th of April.
Yes VisiTabs are no longer unique but it was while Roccat was evolving through other projects. Opera and even Internet explorer in Windows 8 have now adopted a similar method.
We think that Roccat's VisiTabs hold the advantage of scrolling which means your tabs stay the same size no matter how many you have open. Opera's implementation makes the tabs width decrease each time a tab is added, so if you have 80 tabs for example it makes it very difficult to see which tab is which.
Great web browser i think its better than "Camino's Browser" ... but Roccat
needs some improvement on Flash, pages like "yahoo movies" this browser
runs weird.
would be perfect if you can add an option that we can BLOCK FLASH, or
a Extension we use.. like "safari click to flash"
i really like your software runs very fast on my POWERBOOK G4
I must say I am liking Roccat 2 a lot, I mean the cookie management is great but it shouldn't have been there in the first place.
The auto-reloader is nice to have built in however Chrome and Firefox do have this availible as a ad-on.
Lion Fullscreen is great not enougth programs yet alone browsers are supporting this standard so great to see Roccat using it.
But the feature which really stands out is RClouds, now as far as I am aware there is nothing like this in any browser. RClouds has already been very useful for me, I can make up all my open tabs, history, bookmarks etc.. at home and restore everything at the mac at my workplace, you can then use reset when you are finished. So it can be used as a backup as well as making everything far more portable.
I also have to mention that it seems smoother and snappier than ever before.
I would say that it's highly unethical for the developer to create an account for the EXPRESS purpose of rating their own app. It is perfectly ethical for a developer to have an account to respond to technical issues and errors in product use, but developer's MUST leave the option of evaluation in the hands of the app users. Highly disappointed with this developer.
Firstly just to confirm this wasn't anything to do with Runecats.
Secondly we believe this issue has been solved, we worked with MacUpdate to prevent this from happening in the future and MacUpdate kindly went through the users removing the "overly enthusiastic" ones.
We have kept in contact with MacUpdate and if anything suspicious arrises we will report it to MacUpdate asap.
I've been trying out Roccat for a few weeks now and it's OK but nothing to get excited about.
I'd say that Firefox and Safari are more competent browsers …I'll take either one, with the nod going to Firefox, over Roccat. Even Chromium outdoes Roccat IMHO.
The one big, big, shortcoming of Roccat is that there's no apparent way to save passwords, which makes Roccat rather a pain in the ass to use regularly.
Anyway, does the world really NEED another browser? Hmmm?
It always re-open last tabs, no matter the setting of the preferences... :-(
After you've launched it 10 times, you've got 10 tabs, even if you haven't used the app!!!
It "obviously" doesn't work like that in any other browser! ;-)
Yes, I can deactivate the homepage thing in the prefs but last opened tabs always re-open on launch and I haven't found a setting for that.

Change User Agents- View sites which need other browser, view apples videos which require Safari etc...
A choice of VisiTabs or normal tabs or both, a bookmarks bar which fully supports bookmarklets
Downloads files and programs really easily and fast
Gets 100/100 in the Acid3 test
New Download Manager and now has FullScreen Mode
Lovebyt.es integration for instant URL shortening.
Undercover Browsing
Social page sharing / online email sharing
eBuddy Widget (chat with your facebook, msn, yahoo messenger, ICQ and aim friends no matter what tab you are on)
English, French and German localization
Ability to Import Bookmarks
Mac OS X 10.7 Lion fullscreen support
Roccat Munch cookie management
Auto reloader (5, 10, 15 or 30 seconds)
The amazing RClouds (beta) which allows you to backup your settings, open tabs, imported bookmarks, bookmarks, navigate launchers, history and much more. RClouds allows you to restore your backups to any Mac so your browsing session can be anywhere you want it to be!
RClouds Reset allows you to reset your browser to factory settings (especially useful when you've restored your data to a public computer.
Cinnamon on the RClouds now means faster updating as it intelligently looks for the servers with the least amount of traffic.
We have even purchased the rights of exclusivity with lovebyt.es so now only Roccat users can use the service!
Why not try Cookie Stumbler to manage Roccat's cookies in the most secure way?

But opening tabs is hassle. Everytime I have to do cmd + N. Please provide a button for opening new tab.

The tab thing is only for the second tab...once there are two tabs there is a + sign on the tab bar.
Also the VisiTab feature...I think its not unique to this browser. Opera is having this since years.

I hope this helps, if you have any more questions just shoot them at me!
