Wineskin Winery...Used to create the newly released Wineskin 2.0 wrappers! Also manages/downloads Wineskin Engines, Master Wrapper versions, and even custom building engines from Wine source.

Wineskin 2.0 wrappers are a way to turn a Windows program into a Mac program. Games, business apps, whatever... finished ported software looks and works like a Mac application.

What's New

Version 1.1:
  • All OS X 10.7 Lion (preview version) bugs found and fixed
  • Winetricks now works with spaces in the path ok.
  • Winetricks has an added cancel button
  • Wineskin.app has an option to change wether Alt/Opt works as an Alt key for the Windows program, or an Option key for the Mac side.
  • Multiple wrappers running will no longer fight each other over gamma
  • A single wrapper can run more...

Mac OS X 10.5 or later

You may want to look into WineBottler (http://winebottler.kronenberg.org), which is a version of Wine built just for OS X. This app hasn't been updated in almost 3 years, so there's no telling if it works correctly (or at all) anymore.

I have downloaded Wineskin Winery onto my iMac and when I try to open it I get the message that 'Windows Explorer cannot be opened because of a problem'. Please advise

This is an OLD version.
If you want this go to:
unless of course you have a reason to want the old version.

I just tried this the other day on three small Windows apps. Two are the ExpressPCB and ExpressSCH circuit board apps, and the other is the Duncan Tone Stack Calculator.

These are small free apps that I had been running in Parallels under Windows 2000. Seemed like a lot of overhead for a few simple apps.

Just for the heck of it I tried Winskin Winery, and it was able to make them into stand alone apps that work just fine. The help viewer for the circuit apps is unable to show some images, but otherwise it works better than I was expecting.

Clearly these are fairly simple apps, and not games, but it seems to work fine for many Windows apps. I was pleasantly surprised!

We now have a Pro version of Wineskin available. the Pro version comes with support and its a good way to support this project.

See : http://www.bordeauxgroup.com/press-release/wineskin-pro

for more information.

I wrote this on the actual release of Wineskin Winery. But in order to avoid misunderstandings i'll paste it here too.

|Hi Twickline,
Does that "We" includes Doh123 (the developer of the original Wineskin & W. Winery) or only includes a 3rd party company who forked this open-source* project?

And does "good way to support this project" includes Doh123's Wineskin or includes only Bordeaux's Wineskin Pro?

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming anyone for anything, I just found your comment a bit confusing. You see, the way you are saying things seems that Doh123 (therefore Wineskin Winery) is part of Bordeaux Group, if this is the case then is cool, but if is not the case then is not so cool. In any case, people should be certain that their money and feelings are indeed supporting the project they want to support.

Best wishes.

*Disclaimer: It is open-source software so everyone can do what they want with it as long as they respect the license; in this case Bordeaux Group modified Doh's code and added some stuff, stuff which some people may find useful, some others don't. As they modified the code into something a bit or a lot different (i don't know B.G.'s Wineskin Pro) they have the right to charge for they work.|

This is basically a program that wraps up an up-to-date Wine release into a wrapper (wineskin?) that is an all-in-one OS X bundle you can install in your applications folder. It has lots of nice functions for managing your Windows settings inside the bundle and works incredibly well, I created working apps on my very first try, not having really tried wine before; this is wonderful for free software! Great for times when you don't want to start a VM or reboot into bootcamp for a specific app...
