SketchMee is most advanced automatic pencil sketch generator in the world, but very easy to use.

Best in Class

The successful SketchMee apps for iPhone and iPad have redefined what's possible to achieve in computer generated art with just a few taps, leaving even desktop computer software behind. Until now, that is.

SketchMee on a Mac brings the technology to a whole new level. The extra processing power enables the algorithms to shift into higher gears and generate new and incredible results. What's become possible has surprised ourselves during development!

The SketchMee apps are only more...

I really like this little app and have spent some hours happily messing around with it.

However, my point. Version 1.1 is out. I'm keen to try the new features but have no clue as to how one acquires an update to previously-purchased software via the App Store. I see SketchMee on there ok but it simply tells me I have it "installed" and offers no hints. Can someone advise please?

I have no such updating problems on MacUpdate...

Oops, please ignore the above request. I found it- by ckicking on the 'updates' button at the top of the App Store page. D'ohh.

Changes are few but useful, especially the ability to turn off the annoying tool tips. So, back to play...

Is it me or is MU dog slow this evening?

Since there is no demo of this app available, I can't review it without paying for it, something I'm not willing to do. If I can't try it, I won't buy it.

But, as someone who has drawn with pencil all my life, I can tell you that, judging from the example they chose for the Mac Update page, there is nothing even remotely realistic about the results this app produces. It takes more than laying on a little texture to imitate pencil strokes.

I can only conclude that, as in most cases, here you get exactly what you pay for - and no more.

FYI, the developer's web site indicates that there is a free "lite" version. This is no doubt intended as a demo. Since you are a pencil artist, I'd like to hear what you think of the program. I hope you'll try the lite version and report back here. Thanks.

Wish I could reply to a reply. Unfortunately I cannot, so this response will appear out of sequence. Anyway...

@Fred M.: the lite version appears to be iOS only; since I don't have an iPhone or iPad I cannot test it myself. However, in searching their poorly organized web site for the lite version I found some much better samples of what the product can do. Based on those samples it would probably be worth a try at the price. Which raises the question, why did they pick the absolute worst examples to use here on Mac Update?

An excellent little app that produces extremely realistic results very quickly indeed. The fact that costs only EIGHT dollars is even more astonishing!
One of the best software deals I have ever seen.
Many thanks, Studio Mee.
