Tegan is a small, simple and quite powerful, pure Cocoa application based on GPL HandBrakeCLI utility. It allows to convert video files in many various formats. Supported formats are MPEG, MOV, AVI, WMV, FLV, Matroska, VOB, etc.

Well. Just tried it on an mkv movie to Apple TV 2.
Worked perfectly for me.
And its free.

Would love to have the option to convert to mpg for DVD burning.

Well, it doesn't work good. The quality is in some way very very bad and sometimes very good.
For me not workable. Sorry, even if it is free

This app is a joke. You cannot turn off subtitles (it won't let you!), it's as slow as the retards who run the Tea Party, it produces dreck, and the developer's English is utterly unintelligible, yet s/he's not sharp enough to have it copy edited, resulting in claims both here and on their website that Tegan can transcode to MPEG and several other formats, though it ONLY transcodes to H.264 - BADLY!

This app works like a dream. Drag your movie into the box and go and make a cup of tea. Nothing to it. It's faster than Handbrake and a lot less fiddly. It converted my avi and wmv movies to mpeg format without a murmur. And the price isn't bad either. Thanks, developer!

wait what?
This app certainly doesn't convert to MPEG format. It only does H.264 and the presets are for Apple devices only.

This is based on Handbrake. What is the advantage of using this as "middleware" instead of using HB itself?

I like this. Simple and easy. I converted several .flv files without any issues. I agree that it would be nice if the developer could state in the description what formats are supported.

Don't waste your time with this! Tried AVI,FLV,Widows media files,none of which work.Be nice if we know what is SUPPORTED!

I found that Tegan converted some WMV files that Handbrake would not. Perhaps you should contact the Developer and nicely request assistance.

Also - Tegan is FAST! It uses all eight of my processing cores where Handbrake only uses one!

Just tried Tegan with an "old" MPEG file. Did not work. All I got was an error message saying that this is an unsupported format.
It's a pity because I really like the minimalist interface.
Maybe the developer could tell us what are the supported formats.

Thank you for your comment. At the moment Tegan is based on HandBrake utility therefore it supports formats which are supported by HandBrake only.

Please note that it's initial version of this app and support for others formats might be added in the future releases.

I've updated the description with supported formats already.
