Get PDF Text help get a better control on you PDF files and help you edit the text as needed. The new text file will be save on your desktop with the same name of the original PDF file for better tracking.

All you need to do is:

Double-click the automator action.
Choose the PDF file you want to extract the text from.
Press enter.

The automator action will run and extract and save the new file for you.

What's New

Version 1.3:

Now, the action will open the extracted text file in Word App.

Really really slow - froze on me as well... takes forever to start up and then ask for a PDF document that then it converts to an RTF text file. If one has Acrobat Pro (and Preview for that matter) one can do the same thing although maybe not as fast. You can just select text and copy-paste it into a document (Word, Pages, RTF, etc.)
