I think I've seen something similar 3 or 4 times total over the decades I've been a mac user, but thankfully I've always found good free or paid alternatives, that didn't rely on in-app ads.
I don't mind supporting the development of the apps i find useful by buing a license or by donating, but I don't thin I'll ever tolerate banners in my desktop applications, no matter how nifty they are.
While it's tempting to give one star for not offering a paid alternative, I'll refrain from rating as I never actually tried the app.
If an app serves ads, it's not really "Free".
It would have been nice if macupdate would make that distinction, and it should be interresting from a stats point of view too.

I've been looking for an app like this, since I use my 27 inch mac as my only "TV". Connecting my ipad to the mac to mirror the screen requires two rather expensive wires (ipad to HDMI + HDMI to miniDisplay port).
But I do not get the Airplayer to work. When installed, I choose my mac in the airplay symbol in a youtube window. Nothing happens except from a "The operation could not be completed"-window that appears on my ipad screen.
I'm using an (non-jailbraked) Ipad 2 with iOS 5.0.1 and an Imac using lion 10.7.2.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

There's Reflection (http://www.reflectionapp.com/) für $14.99 which offers a 10 minute trial so you can make sure it works. There's also AirServer for the same price, but I don't know which one is better since I've only used the Reflection trial so far.
Or if you only want to use it at home to play music, you can try Apple's Remote app for the iPhone, which lets you do just that - remote control the music your Mac plays.
I've also just tried another free app called AirMac, but it didn't work for me either (with iOS 5.0.1 and OS X 10.7.3). Bummer.
