SmallDVD is a simple DVD authoring utility for MacOSX that will take video files and create a DVD image from them that can be burnt using Disk Utility.
It is an AppleScript front-end for dvdauthor and a variety of other existing command line tools.
I use MPEGStreamClip to edit the MPEG2 files recorded from TV, create the disk image in SmallDVD, then burn it with Disk Utility.
I wrote SmallDVD because I couldn't find anything else that let me create a DVD with several files, and a simple menu with a static background image.

NOTE: The system requirements give 10.6 as the minimum OS, but I'm using it on 10.5.8 just fine.

(SmallDVD requires iMagine Photo. Please download and install it first)
Is that what you are referring to?
SmallDVD has always needed this.
