Installed the firmware update and my drive still makes the same noise at startup, but not after coming out to sleep.

I also am still experiencing the drive sound at start-up, but is super quiet when waking from sleep. Otherwise, the process was smooth and as Apple described. After the obnoxious beep sound upon restart when applying the update and a black screen for many seconds, the heart rate returns to normal when the computer shows the friendly Apple logo.

hhhmmmm yea you guys are right, noise after waking up from sleep is gone other wise same thing happens

It is not noted in any of the documentation that this does not apply to a MACBOOK2,1. I have a macbook, 2 gig dual core and the update is not for it. This update is not for machook 2006 or early 2007; only from later 2007 and forward. it would be nice if this was documented.

After installing the firmware update, my USB ports are now extremely slow. Printing a color page takes 20 minutes... scanning fails... and my TV Mini HD device won't even start up.
