AppDefender allows you to intercept unauthorized access to your applications using USB Flash Drive or a password. When somebody tries to launch protected application, AppDefender asks a password. You can protect your mail client, system preferences, Keychain Access, Terminal and any other application from your Mac. Also, AppDefender informs you who and when tries to launch protected applications and sends you mail notification with photo. Simply remember your master password or use a USB Flash Drive as your personal key and you'll be more secure.

For example, I want that AppDefender sends me notifications on e-mail. When I try apps, which monitor some events, it was really useful.

It's really great idea to protect all apps by one password ( and now you can use USB Drive instead password). I've bought AppDefender when it was in beta testing. I've found some bugs with registration and preferences, but in 1.0.1 version this issues are fixed.
The price is normal for this application, interface is nice, but I think It would be good to add some features ( i've wrote to developer e-mail about it ).

Hi there,

I've been using Appdefender for a long time now, but I did the OS X Lion upgrade and reinstalled the application but it's not working. The message I get is "Appdefender cannot find registration information". I bought my license and did the registration already but have no idea of what I have to do to get it to work!

Any suggestions?

Ok, so I tried to solve the problem by uninstalling version 1.2 and installing version 1.4. I set my password then I got the message of 14 days trial... everything was good until I started adding apps but none of them got blocked or protected by the appdefender. And also, now it doesn't recognize the password I set when starting. I am 100% sure that the password I am entering is correct.

I also tried to buy the license but when I click the icon "purchase" or "get key" nothing happens!!!

I can't get this to work. Whenever I try to open a protected App a dialog box appears, I type my password, press OK and nothing happens. The dialog box doesn't go away and the App doesn't open. I have tried this with a number of applications. I get the following error message in Console.app

"27/11/10 5:00:36 PM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.macinapps.appdefender[179]) Job appears to have crashed: Trace/BPT trap
27/11/10 5:00:44 PM com.macinapps.appdefender[226] 2010-11-27 17:00:44.675 mwagent[229:907] *** -[NSCFString substringToIndex:]: Range or index out of bounds"

I don't know why someone has given me a negative rep just because a program was hanging and not working properly, but I seem to have worked it out. To fix the problem I needed to go into the common settings and set a password there - the password I was setting at startup didn't seem to be sticking. I emailed my original post here to the developer and got a response within minutes. I replied to that email shortly afterwards with some more details and got another response within minutes so kudos to the developer for that.
