Version 1.6.1: Release notes were unavailable when this listing was updated.
I am really struggling to like this app. The two MAJOR things that are stopping me from using it full time is:
1) No IMAP push support for now (realtime)
2) While open it uses nearly 20% of my CPU cycle time.
GUI is perfect and simple on a MAC. The way it should be. And it supports multiple languages with ease. The developer has been very responsive so I know the two concerns will be addressed soon. For now it like a little gem to be taken out and "shown off" here and there. . .
Fixed keychain issue
POP account folders management issues
POP account restoration
copy-paste of images in the message composer now generates PNG instead of TIFF files
Hi can anyone confirm if sending attachments from this apps make it successfully to Outlook for PC?
I am forced to use Outlook for mac because sending files from mail.app is flakey at best. Wondered if this handled attachments OK so I can ditch outlook.
Yes, it worked fine for me. I only don't use Sparrow because you can't move messages from one account to another. FWIW Attachment Tamer for Mail works very well.
@Garyi: Sparrow is not the quickest eMail app I've used, check its Activity window (CMND + 0) in order to inspect its retrieval progress and any issues it may have during such process.
Nope its not having it, the activity monitor is going so quick its hard to tell whats happening, but in essence it just says downloading 1 of 195 through to 45 of 195 (really quick) then reverts to 1 of 195 and through again, over and over. But no emails appear.
The only thing that annoys me is that font and font size (for ex. Georgia 12) don't stick, they keep going back to the default Helvetica 13 when I start to write a new message.
This doesn't fit my email needs at all. Any client I use must be able to send TEXT only. I could not find any way to do that either in the on-line help or the limited on-line forums.
Also, I want to specify a mail agent to read mail, a separate to send, and have the Reply-To: header added. Didn't see a way to configure that.
I've been pinging them for reply-to: support since shortly after release. As a user with multiple domains, subdomains, and catchalls, it's really the only thing keeping me from using it.
Seeing that on App Store they have not 1.6.1 ... I don't know if it's a problem for 1.6 only or what else, but today I don't get emails from GMail. I mean, if I check on Web-GMail I see as usually my new emails,.. but Sparrow doesn't get them (???). Even forcing email check.
Very strange, it's the first time I get this kind of problem ... and it's a big problem I hope will be fixed. For me at least.
"Connection to Gmail could not be established. Either your connection is not available or Gmail is unavailable. Please, retry later."
The message is a lie. It makes no sense, because it can quite easily receive mail and it also saves as drafts the messages it supposedly can't send because of a connection issue with Gmail.
Raaa.. I'm so pissed, sorry to say it so bluntly, but I just spent an hour writing a message and this program, although it looks very neat sent.. only half of it !! There are certain precaution one should take when using beta programs that I'm thinking of too late... Sorry, but this won't happen twice, I'll stick to the normal Gmail.
