ShowPass Safari Extension... This trivial little Safari extension does one trivial little thing: When you move the mouse over a password input field (the kind that shows asterisks in place of the actual password), the password is magically revealed. When you move the mouse out of the password field, the password is obscured again. ShowPass was inpired by the same behavior in Google Chrome.

  • Bug fix for extension update data.
Requirements
  • PPC / Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later

That is real smart... Lets all give sad faces to people who like a program that we don't like!

While technically the developer may be correct, why make it that much easier for the prospective thief - i.e. no tech knowledge needed to steal passwords of a stolen computer.

This product is very risky to have on your computer, from a security standpoint, especially on a laptop. With this tool in place, should your computer be stolen or access by an authorized person, not only can they access files when the password is remembered in the browser, but they can also change it and block your own access in the future.

Functionality like that provided by ShowPass and Google Chrome is not completely without risks, but it's worth noting that you can reveal obscured passwords in Safari without any extension: Just right-click on a password field, select Inspect This Element, and then change the input element's type from "password" to "text". All this extension does is automate that process. As they say, if an attacker gains physical access to your computer, all is lost anyway...

THANKS.....I am sure you know as well as I do, how annoying it is to say "did I type that password correctly."
