Cinematica manages your growing collection of video files perfectly, with a range of options to suit every need. It's the application that Apple forgot. Your search for a video manager has ended.

Cinematica lets you keep track of dozens of properties for each file. Sort and search by any user-defined field or by technical properties including resolution, aspect ratio or video codec.

Cinematica's smart collections catalog your videos into groups, based on multiple criteria.

Cinematica lets you customize keywords and collection icons, and allows user-defined more...

What's New

Version 2.1:
  • Added a thumbnail gallery view in addition to the standard list view.
  • Fixed a bug to prevent a possible hang during large imports.
  • The Aspect Ratio field sorts from narrowest to widest rather than numerically. Thus 4:3 comes before 3:2.
  • Various minor cosmetic bugs fixed.

I have been using this app for a year or two. I bought version 1. How ever had issues with it consuming all the memory. Then version 1.1 was released and the app then performed as advertised and was vey good you use. Now version 2 has been released and the same issues prevail. It consumes all memory and renders the computer unusable. I have emailed support who are very responsive and obliging and want to do all they can to help. So I expect I’ll get a response very soon, But I expect I’ll be waiting for version 2.1 before I can utilise version 2s new functions.... But otherwise this is a VERY useful media manager when it works....

We have never seen this in our extensive beta testing over the last 2 months and have replied to your tech support request.

Yes indeed you have and very promptly too. I have isolated the issue to a hung task. Cinematica Importer FF was hanging and stopped the import and the app and indeed the entire computer eventually. The next time I launched Cinematica it was still trying to import files and hung the app again but this time I just force quit the FF importer task and the app sprung to life and processed over 1500 files with in minutes. Very impressive. Eventually I worked out how to add the FFMPEG and FFPROBE files. So it may yet process the files still left in the queue unless they simply cant be found.

But most of all I would like to see an auto save function added to this app. I’ve spent days importing files in to version 1 with the computer running 24/7 not realising that you have to manually save OFTEN, If you don’t and the app crashes as version 1.0 did a lot (Fixed in vers 1.1) you will loose everything done since your last successful save. And in our case it was days worth of work. We are much wiser now and save after every single import ... during even with this version. But despite this this is a very useful application and makes browsing your media files a lot easier and also helps finding duplicates ... I like it a lot. thank you for your very prompt support.

Well the developer has been very quick to respond and offer support to resolve the issues we were having and we now have the application working. Its very fast at importing and processing files and there are many improvements. We are now going to take some time getting to know its new functions and to test it.

Apparently abandoned by this tiny developer from Incline Village, Nevada...

Actually, we have spent the last year building a major update and expect to release Cinematica 2.0 next month.

Way too simple and incapable to be priced at $25. It’s worth more like $3.

Here is the list of things I would like to have in this application.

1. Show items in a grid and sort them with the series name just like iTunes.
2. Sort video list feature by the TV show series.
3. Same or similar interface as iTunes or better.
4. Expanded list feature would have sorting bar on the top.
5. Convert videos into other formats.

It's OK, just to simple and plain for that price.
Doesn't catch info from iMDB, can't monitor folders for new items, can't select the screenshot for preview frame, can't specify double click action, etc.

This application was an instant buy for me.

I've been waiting awhile for an application like this that aggregates all the things I've accumulated over a lot of drives all over my network. Just wish it had an auto fill option for sites like Amazon to speed along the process of adding details and such.

It auto uses just the right app to play the file and outside of the afore mentioned wish does everything I could have asked for in a Movie Library Manager.

Look forward to future features and updates.
