Used it on one locked pdf and received 67 blank pages. This program may work for some, but not for me. Good luck! If it works for you, please donate to the developer.

Useless. The unlocked PDF is EMPTY.

When I tried unlocking a PDF document using your program I received strange results. When I dragged the PDF document into the PDFunlock message box I would get an error box stating that that the "1st method of unlocking was unsuccessful" and then the program would go on to try the second method. A new PDF document would open up only with NO text whatsoever on the pages. I've also tried it the brute force way and the document also came up with textless pages. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi,
PDFUnlock uses many different methods in an attempt to unlock the PDF. It seems it is unable to unlock every locked PDF. I try to add more methods as I find different types of locked files. In its defense it is free ;)

Under 10.6.8, when I try to launch this a dialog pops-up from the Finder saying "You can't open the application PDF Unlock because it may be damaged or incomplete." and its icon is displayed with the dreaded "no exit" symbol. What gives?

I'm unable to duplicate the problem.
Have you tried downloading the application again? Maybe the download was corrupt or incomplete.
This is the only report of this problem, with 16,500 downloads. If you still have problems then visit our website and follow the email link to contact us. I'll see if I can offer some assistance.

Works GREAT! I wanted to use Text to Speech but the protected PDF would not like me. Used PDF Unlock and now i CAN!

Excellent program. I've only used it once so far, but it did exactly what I wanted. It unlocked a document so that I could work with it in another program.

I'm very impressed by the author's responsiveness to people's reviews in this thread.

I was happy to donate.

Drag and drop ease of use. PDF Unlock successfully unlocked a massive PDF that I needed to break into smaller parts (which I subsequently did using Acrobat). Given that competing apps all sell for $25, I was happy to donate to the dev. Hopefully he'll use some of the money to improve the app icon. :-)

This is a fabulous app. However, the latest update (v1.2.2) is not OS X 10.4 compatible as stated under 'System requirements'!!
