Ingamium is a plugin for the free chat client Adium. It allows you to receive messages and reply to them while playing a game without leaving fullscreen mode or quitting the game. You´ll simply see the messages on top of the game and in a small chat window you can view the last messages and reply the them.

It has potential to be a Mac version of Xfire almost and with the Xfire Adium plugin, could be just that if not better because of the ability to still use other clients in the overlay as well.
My main question would be if it would work with Wine games, that are basically Mac versions of Windows games in a wrapper so they run.
Other than that, I have a few full screen games and stuff that it would be nice to have a full screen option on them.

I´ve sent Ingamium to the Adium Xtras-Site today, but it´s waiting for approval - don´t know how long I´ll have to wait.
I can understand that you´re afraid to install Ingamium, but it is open-source, everyone can see what the plugin does, so I´d be really stupid if Ingamium would do "bad things".
I can ensure you that the worst thing which could happen is a crashing game. If that happens, just disable Ingamium for that game - that´s it.
To answer your question: It depends on the game and the way Wine is used. For example, many Cider games are working, while no game played with Crossover seems to work. Don´t know how it is with the other alternatives.
