Minimize CPU and memory usage when viewing Flash. Free
FlashToHTML5 is my very first Safari 5 Extension.
We all know it: the standard YouTube Flash Player is a big CPU and memory hog. That's exactly why I created FlashToHTML5, my very first extension for Safari 5.
If possible, FlashToHTML5 will replace the CPU and memory hogging YouTube Flash Player with an HTML5 player. Not only will it look nicer, you will also notice that your computer will run cooler and faster. If you use a laptop, you will also notice that the battery life of a fully charged battery will increase.

FlashToHTML5 will also automatically load the video at the highest quality available, WITHOUT advertisements! The only downside is that subtitles and user-captions are not displayed, but that's something that I may add support for in the future. ;-)

Using a DualCore PowerMac G5/2.5GHz (a machine which you can't buy), I had chopping YouTube videos.
Now they play smoothly, even while they're loading!!

It would be nice to have it on official Safari extension page.

The extension doesn't handle embedded videos, and a button to change resolutions would make it prefect.

However, temperature goes up significantly on HTML5 videos, too. Sometimes even worse than with flash videos. The fans of my MacBook Pro kick in just as much as with flash videos,
Anyone else this behaviour? Any suggestions?
