Slow speed servers, but ok in general.

I agree with the slow server. But it seems to depend when you sync. Weekends are mostly very slow.

Another important thing:
only ten files per day.
Nobody knows but CloudApp that I need 10 files per day.

(Actually-y I need 12 files per day, one file in two hours)

To remove the 10 file per day limit you need to pay for your account.

Why can't I load this apart from the MAS? I don't have the MAS on my system it won't get installed and I won't use it. They have a nice homepage but no download. I wonder why.

There's no reason not to use the MAS. Why would they want to worry about paying for storage/bandwidth when Apple does that for them for free?

Giving Apple 30% of every single cent you make? You call that free? Maybe get a copy of a good dictionary and lookup "free".

My point is still valid. Still not sure why people downvote the initial comment. And as I already stated, no need for not having a standalone download. And here it is: http://getcloudapp.com/download Enjoy, and MU please add the link to the listing.

Does ver. 1.5 require 10.5 as noted here on MU or does it require 10.6.6 as noted on the getcloudapp-website? (Note: you need to be logged in to access the download-area).

Just wanted to know since I trashed the 1.0.3 dmg and don't want to overwrite with a version that doesn't run on 10.5.8.

The latest version reqires 10.6 or later because it is only available via the Mac App Store. It's also probably been rewritten to require 10.6, even if it was available from other sources.

Thanks for your reply. This is what I was referring to:

Even though it says 10.5 here on MU your're probably right.

I used to use this application. However I found that it would regularly crash while uploading. Files that did get through were not to be found. Got to the point where it was simply useless which was a shame 'cause I really liked the idea.

Found the alternative: Droplr. Same principle... menu bar icon that you drag images to etc but it simply works. Well integrated with Twitter - if you use that service. Only drawback is you need a Twitter account to sign up.

I really loved CloudApp, its super ease of use and its design before they implemented the "Pro" version some months ago. Since then even with the paid Pro version the file maximum limit is 250 MB.

I would like to pay for the service but with that low limit the CloudApp service doesn't make sense for me any more since I work with my team on video files which are up to 750 MB.

It's a pity: Great idea, great design - but they didn't manage to adapt their product to market's needs now for months.

Market needs? That's an unfair assessment. I dare say that about 1% of the population would require a 750 MB file size. And transferring nearly a GB in one file would likely kill their servers. Realistically, even 250 MB in one file is quite generous.

Cloud services aren't there yet. No way they can hold terabytes of information. I understand it may not completely suit your needs, but you also have to understand that you represent a tiny segment of the population.

Additionally, what do you use instead of Cloudapp for your 750 MB video files? I'm not even aware of a paid cloud service that allows that much room!

Just discovered CloudApp. Makes my sharing life so much easier. Though I'd prefer a bit more link security, but hey, we're at 1.0.3, I'm sure it's coming.
