I tried this app one or two years ago. Now I'd like to give it another whirl and see how development has made progress over the years, so I've downloaded the trial. When starting up I get the message "your trial has expired. Please purchase from the App Store.

While I can see that software piracy is a problem, I think it's a mistake to let users try only once.

BTW I tried to contact the developer because of the problem with the trial, but I didn't succeed, because the "contact us"-button at the dev's website doesn't work…

Has anyone the e-mail address from Invoax? Any word from the dev?

There are quite a few good project management apps for Mac, including Merlin, OmniPlan and iTaskX. All have their particular merits, but what I really like about Planit is its simplicity and directness. It is not as sophisticated as Merlin, nor does it have quite as many graphic options as OmniPlan or iTaskX, but when I grab a task bar and drag it, I know exactly what is going to happen: Planit is not going to tell me that due to some obscure violation I cannot move the task or the group of tasks 2 days forward or 6 days back; and if visual adjustment is what suits you, you will find that most task editing may be done with the mouse: moving and extending task times, creating and deleting dependencies, and adjusting completion indicators, all with the minimum of visual clutter.

Early versions of Planit were somewhat buggy and limited in display options, but this version (1.1) has blossomed into a straightforward project management app that provides all the basics in an elegant way, gives you fine control over the appearance of gantt charts—and costs a fraction of the alternatives.

Excellent response from the developer :)

This is a nice first version; it has all the most basic functionality. Things I couldn't get working were linking parent tasks and linking a task to two dependent prior tasks - quite key things in the plans I'm used to making.

Looks very good - clean interface, although the toolbar buttons are not the most logical for creating plans (no 'link task' button).

Manual needs a little attention; it refers to some things that look like they were changed in the code after the manual was written (it says to link tasks use the Task->Make Dependent menu option which does not exist; there is a Link Task item though).

Handy for free but If this does become a paid product it will need to be much more polished.

Can you elaborate on not being able link parent tasks and linking a task to two dependent prior tasks? You should be able to do this (the screenshot shows both things). If you can email the support@invoax.com.au or reply here I will investigate.

I'd love to try this but it asks for administrator access to install - as I can't think of any reason it would need root access I won't let it install as it may be a trojan.

We have created a new download which doesn't use the OS X installer so you can copy into your applications directory (or run from the DMG). This mean you do not need admin access to install.
